I really wanted to like this but.......

I ordered this on the back of some less than complimentary online reviews, as i always like to give a product a chance myself and see it in the flesh. However, I ordered this on the back of some less than complimentary online reviews, as i always like to give a product a chance myself and see it in the flesh. However, on this occasion i fear the majority of reviews out there are correct. The overall build quality is good and the iPad snaps into the case well. All of the ports and cutouts line up nicely and the iPad certainly appears safe and secure. The keyboard is very nice to use, i cant say i used it for much more than 10 minutes, but i can tell this part of the device is good quality and will do the job well. The issue for me and for many of the reviews it seems, is the fact it turns your sleek, expensive and super thin iPad pro, into a monstrous beast, that looks just like a netbook. Once this is on, the iPad is clunky, heavy and just awkward to operate. It certainly takes the elegance of the operation away. Little details like the lid, when closed in clam shell mode, doesn't really locate and can "slide" around from the magnetic stays. Nothing major again, but an annoyance certainly. Also the lip that protrudes above the screen around most of the edge, its got a practical purpose, but it makes the device more awkward to hold and operate. Generally, something just doesn't feel right about this product. Now i understand for some, these things will not be an issue, and the practicality will win through. I do see some positives and i really wanted to like it, but unfortunately its just a bit too clunky to play nicely with the iPad in my opinion.

      Portability with protection

After watching the apple demonstration it was decided that with iOS 11 (soon to come) onboard the new IPad Pro 10.5, would give me the portability to what I was used to. It soon became apparent that a keyboard was necessary (for me) and the Logitech was the answer. Coupled with a backlit keyboard to what I was always used to and with full IPad protection surpassed the Apple keyboard. This is a worthy piece of equipment and although slightly increases the weight factor, I find is not a problem. Good quality, comfortable, excellent key pressure, good protection, keyboard easy to couple and decouple from IPad which is held securely with strong magnet and of course, backlit. Once keyboard shortcuts are mastered, this is the business without a doubt.

Sorry back to the drawing board

Having already got a Logitech Create for my 9.7" iPad Pro, when I bought my 10.5" i went straight for the latest product from Logitech, the Slim Combo. However Having already got a Logitech Create for my 9.7" iPad Pro, when I bought my 10.5" i went straight for the latest product from Logitech, the Slim Combo. However after 2 days of use it went straight back to Apple as it's just not fit for purpose. The case now comes in 2 parts (not 1 like the create) which means the 2 pieces are easily separated and therefore doesn't robustly protect your iPad and doesn't feel secure. Additionally, the images on the website are different to the actual product, there's a much longer support area in from of the keyboard with the Slim Combo which mean that you then have to pull out an extra leg to support the screen when typing in a landscape position. Would love a Logitech Create for a 10.5" but not this slim combo.

Beware of battery loss when attached and sleeping

I don’t know whether this is a common issue with the smart keyboards available for the pros, but if you’re going to sell a product as a close able protective ca I don’t know whether this is a common issue with the smart keyboards available for the pros, but if you’re going to sell a product as a close able protective case then you’d think that it wouldn’t drain too much battery when closed and in sleep mode. After only having my iPad 10.5 pro for a few days and Logitech’s keyboard, I’ve noticed significant drain when attached and sleeping. If I can’t confidently leave the keyboard attached to the iPad without significant drain when not in use then maybe this isn’t really fit for purpose - not sure whether this is a Logitech issue or Apple or both but needs looking at.

Stops your IPad from charging when attaching the keyboard

This is a common problem with theses cases, Apple and Logitech are doing nothing about the problem to solve why the keyboard makes the iPad stop charging. If y This is a common problem with theses cases, Apple and Logitech are doing nothing about the problem to solve why the keyboard makes the iPad stop charging. If you search the on Logitech forum you will find that this problem has been ongoing since Ocotober 2017. Apart from this fault it is a good case and looks professional but until this problem is sorted I would stay away from it.

This should be withdrawn then made properly!

I’ve always been a fan of Logitech iPad cases/keyboards so I assumed for £109.95 this would be the usual high standard so did not bother looking at reviews, how I’ve always been a fan of Logitech iPad cases/keyboards so I assumed for £109.95 this would be the usual high standard so did not bother looking at reviews, however, I wish I did. I feel like I have spent premium money on a cheap ebay £9 grade case/keyboard. The case as reported by others is not slim, but i think this is in part to the keyboard section being thicker towards the rear to elevate the keyboard when typing, thickness isn’t a real issue for me, I want something that protects the iPad. The plastic on this case does not feel premium and the addition of some nice feel rubber in places would probably make it feel more nice to hold. This case feels very much rushed from design to manufacture. Some issues I have: - The keyboard comes away from the case easily, too easily so it’s always coming apart with the least amount of movement. - It has intermittant connection issues, I have to keep detaching and re-attaching when I want to use it - The case cannot be folded back on itself as the smart connector isnt long enough and the magnet power isnt strong enough anyway, so you have to detach the keyboard if you want to use the ipad as a tablet, this means you have a loose keyboard hanging about which if your on a busy train or other public transport this isnt ideal. I rated this 1 star mainly for the back lit keys. The keys themselves are nice to type on but sadly, the overal design is very poor for a high priced suppose premium keyboard
