  • Overview

The 45-Watt MagSafe Power Adapter for MacBook Air features a magnetic DC connector that ensures your power cable will disconnect if it experiences undue strain, and helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector will light up; an amber light lets you know that your portable is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC lead is provided with the adapter for maximum lead length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives users an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Redesigned specifically for MacBook Air, the adapter is the perfect travelling companion. It has a clever design that allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

This power adapter recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on, or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.

Compatible only with MacBook Air with MagSafe Power Port.

      Very poor

After *just* over a year (of course) the charger no longer works. How can the extortionate cost of a new one be justified? Shame on you, Apple

It's actually quite dangerous how easily this breaks and had I been a bit less careless, I could've had a nasty shock. I will not be giving Apple the satisfaction of getting an extortionate replacement from them when there are far cheaper alternatives.

A dreadful waste of materials and unjustifiably expensive to procure a replacement. There are times when I do wonder whether to return to PCs. This is unacceptable for a premium product.

      Please fix the cable flaws.

After a while, regardless of how carefully they're handled, the cable wears either at the Magsafe connector or at the point where it is connected to the power supply itself. We had one Pro that went through three supplies in 5-6 years and we've just ordered a second supply for a six-year old Air (which has actually been living on the spare supply from a dead Macbook Pro for the last year or two anyway). The cables all fail in the same way - there's obviously a real design issue here. Come on Apple, they're not cheap to replace so build them right!
