  • Overview

The 60W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector so if someone should trip over it, the cord disconnects harmlessly and your MacBook Pro stays put safely. It also helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector lights up; an amber light lets you know that your notebook is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives you an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Designed to be the perfect traveling companion, the adapter has a clever design which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

Compatible with MacBook Pro with 13-inch Retina display.

      Poor show from Apple

I completely concur with the previous Gentleman's comments; we have a MacBook Pro and a Mac Book air and have gone through two cables in less than two years. I I completely concur with the previous Gentleman's comments; we have a MacBook Pro and a Mac Book air and have gone through two cables in less than two years. I have an old Dell laptop which has been carried all around the world and the cable is still going strong 4 years on - Apple it is a very poor show. At £65 a cable it is pure day light robbery!

      Not robust

However, the unit itself The power adaptor looks good and the magnetic connection is a great idea as it prevents the laptop being pulled off a desk or surface. However, the unit itself is of poor build quality and easily breaks - usually through the wire splitting as it comes out of the adaptor. When this happens the unit has to be replaced. For £65 I expect a much better build quality.

One would think that for £80 Apple could provide something that doesn't have a non-negligible chance of killing me. Apple clearly does not take the safety of its customers seriously.

      SHAME ON APPLE

I like the design of the macbook pro, but Apple is letting down its customers by providing bad quality chargers. That's my 3rd charger in less than 3 years. It' I like the design of the macbook pro, but Apple is letting down its customers by providing bad quality chargers. That's my 3rd charger in less than 3 years. It's appalling coming from a company like Apple. When will the company start listening to its customers and start making chargers that last? The replacement is awfully expensive and bad for the environment. Greedy Apple!

The worst product in Apple history

Yes... worse than the hockey puck mouse. Worse than iPod socks or Beats headphones. After all these years Apple has never seen fit to improve this part of the Yes... worse than the hockey puck mouse. Worse than iPod socks or Beats headphones. After all these years Apple has never seen fit to improve this part of the user experience. Even when being very careful, the lifespan of the cable/connector is woefully insufficient. If you like to hang on to a MacBook Pro for 6-7 years, be prepared to factor in the cost of 2 or 3 Power Adapter replacements. The cable will fail on you well before the unit that it powers will need to be replaced. Atrocious.
