  • Overview

Charge and sync any iPhone that features the Lightning connector with the iPhone Lightning Dock. Your iPhone sits upright in the dock as it syncs or charges, so it’s perfect for a desk or worktop. Even when your iPhone is in an Apple-designed case, it’s easy to dock. And you can unlock iPhone or use Touch ID without having to remove it from the dock. The iPhone Lightning Dock features an audio port so it can be used with headphones that include a remote control or line-out to connect to powered speakers. And it supports other Lightning accessories, such as the Lightning to USB Cable (included with your iPhone). You can even conduct speakerphone calls with your iPhone in the dock.

Here are some ways you can use the iPhone Lightning Dock:

    • Connect the dock to your computer with the USB cable (included with your iPhone) to sync iPhone and charge its battery.
    • Connect the dock to a power point using the Apple USB Power Adapter (included with your iPhone) to charge the battery.
    • Place your iPhone in the dock and enjoy clear audio during speakerphone calls.
    • Connect the dock to powered speakers or a stereo using a 3.5 mm cable (sold separately) to play music and podcasts from your iPhone.

      iPhone 6 Lightning Dock

just purchased one of these, works well, to enable me to charge my IPhone 6 with cover on, I was surprised to find that this device did not have the lightning c just purchased one of these, works well, to enable me to charge my IPhone 6 with cover on, I was surprised to find that this device did not have the lightning cable supplied with it, was told that I had to use the one that came with the phone, therefore, not such a good value item @ £35 plus cost of an extra lightning cable! Come on Apple, supply this as a complete device!

The reality of this product is that you have a suspended lightning connector with no back support making the iPhone connection unstable with the slightest vibration destabilising the iPhone and causing rapid connection switching which is severe enough to cause iOS to crash, In addition the iPhone wants the lean back where the centre of gravity takes it making the connection so precarious as contact is often lost from some of the metal contacts again resulting in a confused iPhone which may crash and need to be reset. In short I cannot recommend this poorly designed accessory as it defies all engineering principals just to look pretty on your desk at the risk of damaging your expensive iPhone.

      Very, very fiddly.

It's very difficult to align the Lightning port on the phone correctly with the Lightning spike on Using a 6/6s/7 Plus with the dock is fiddly and annoying. It's very difficult to align the Lightning port on the phone correctly with the Lightning spike on the dock. And it's very hard to unplug, often requiring both hands to separate the tiny, not-that-heavy base from the phone. It often takes 10s, sometimes longer, of angling it and scraping around trying to seat the un-flared hole, in the oh-so-smoothly rounded edge of the phone, onto the not-particularly chamfered/rounded spike. This when you just want to plug the darn thing in already. It's like they've deliberately sabotaged the experience. Unplugging's just as bad. The force with which the Lightning socket grips the spike is far, far greater than the weight of the base, and because the base is so small and the phone so large, it's not always possible to free the thing with just one hand. Again, it's like they've deliberately sabotaged the experience. Also, the force required to use the fake home button on the 7 Plus typically means the rubber-based dock still slides away from you before it registers. Again, it's like they've deliberately sabotaged the experience. Also, I find that the rake is insufficient. When I put the phone down at arm's reach, the screen is facing my chest. Possibly this is to avoid glare or stressing the lightning spike, which is the sole means of support, putting the weight of the Plus sized phones entirely onto a tiny sliver of somewhat-reinforced circuit-board material. Whatever, again, it's like they're deliberately sabotaging the experience. If the base were slightly differently shaped and had a less hard/scrapy edge, one might be able to use it to lie the phone on it's side, as a prop, to watch video. But it isn't, and it doesn't, and we can't. So, while that doesn't feel like deliberate sabotage, it feels like an obvious potential use ignored, wastefully. Really, Apple's current levels of design honesty seem to be falling short of their own espoused standards.

Mega disappointed.
