  • Overview

Featuring a new design, Magic Mouse 2 is completely rechargeable, so you’ll eliminate the use of traditional batteries. It’s lighter, has fewer moving parts thanks to its built-in battery and continuous bottom shell, and has an optimised foot design — all helping Magic Mouse 2 track easier and move with less resistance across your desk. And the Multi-Touch surface allows you to perform simple gestures such as swiping between web pages and scrolling through documents. Magic Mouse 2 is ready to go right out of the box and pairs automatically with your Mac.

The feel of the mouse, the functionality, the build quality are all class-leading... but who in the world thought that sticking the charging port on the base of the mouse was a good idea?! And not allowing the mouse to be used whilst being charged? Seriously?! WHY? What a stupid thing to do Apple. What does someone do when they're working and their mouse runs out? Am I expected to buy two of these things??? Aargh. Here's a solution, Apple... what if the mouse could become a wired mouse whilst charging? Stick the port in the front-end of the mouse and have it work whilst charging so I don't have to use my laptops trackpad for intricate design work.

I find it smoother and even more comfortable to use than the MM1, and the built in battery lasts longer than the rechargeable batteries I use in MM1. The main thing for me though is that the MM2 retains a solid bluetooth connection to whichever machine I am using on, whereas the MM1 has always been prone to disconnecting or taking a while to connect. The fact that you cannot use the mouse while it is charging did worry me slightly at first, but, as I assume the the battery does not suffer from reduced capacity due to 'memory' problems, one can just keep an eye on it and recharge it well before it gets too low for a days use. Perhaps put a monthly reminder in the Calendar.

Lovely feel, but may not be good for serious power users

I love the mouse. Feels great. Being able to perform gestures like "swipe" and "scroll" are entertaining. However, since you cant escape having your hand on I love the mouse. Feels great. Being able to perform gestures like "swipe" and "scroll" are entertaining. However, since you cant escape having your hand on the mouse to move it, it is easy to for the mouse to think you are making a gesture when you are not. This might annoy some users. The charge lasts for ever. admittedly, i use my iMac for short periods, but the charge lasts for months!!! That really is a big plus.
