  • Overview

Built specifically for the new Apple TV, the Siri Remote puts you in complete control. With Siri, simply use your voice to find what you want to watch. You can also use your finger on the Touch surface to interact with the new Apple TV. Swipe left or right. Up or down. You have all-new ways to navigate the new Apple TV quickly and easily. However, Apple TV can only connect to one remote at a time. If you wish to play multiple-player games, you’ll need an iOS device or controller.

Very fragile remote control and expensive to repair or replace

However I dropped this remote control on our tiled floor and the glass front smashed. I've contacted Apple who advised me that the cost for a repair will be nearly as much as buying a new remote, so much for a supposedly eco friendly brand. I could buy Amazons Fire TV with similar functionality to Apple TV for a similar price to replacing my broken remote control. I have always been loyal to the Apple brand but my opinion of the company and its product is changing rapidly!

      Suspect quality, suspect pricing, shame

The full Apple TV package (complete with remote) doesn't cost much more than the remote when sold separately. So you feel like a mug when buying a replacement. The full Apple TV package (complete with remote) doesn't cost much more than the remote when sold separately. So you feel like a mug when buying a replacement. The device itself is rather insubstantial, the touch surface is a hit and miss affair, and as others have described it's way, way too easily broken. Being dropped causes it to smash and crack. What is it with the inherent flimsiness in everything now? Remotes need to be more robust than this!

Its also just blank so you have to guess where the up down left & right is. Sounds simple but in the dark watching a movie its blooming tedious! Being able to charge it with the lightening port was way better then the previous remote with replaceable batteries, the Siri part of it is just a gimmick. Ive forgotten how many times i requested a film/tv series and it didn't understand or prompted something else which meant i had to erase the wrong suggestion. Overall i'd give it a 2 out of 10, it would have been a 3 or possibly a 4 if a replacement wasn't £65!!! Which is half the cost of the whole item in the first place! How the blazes is that justified?????

      Glass breaks, Apple.

Who hasn't ever dropped a remote, or got kids who use it for unintended uses? Needs to be bomb proof guys. Slight brownie point- the Remote app for the iPhone works better. Now, to avoid dropping the iPhone on the floor.

      Best remote I've ever used

Using the touchpad to scroll has to be one of the most intuitive experiences with a TV I have ever had - it connects you to what is happening on screen in a way that the traditional arrows on remotes have never quite achieved. Like on the touch screens we use every day, scrolling through thumbnails for films and interacting with games and apps just feels natural, and you start to forget that you're interacting with a piece of technology. Combine that with an exquisitely made glass+aluminium body and an absurdly small, light and thin design with fantastic Siri dictation in place of a keyboard, this is a must have accessory (that thankfully is bundled in with the Apple TV!)
