    Wireless. Effortless. Magical.

AirPods will forever change the way you use headphones. Whenever you pull your AirPods out of the charging case, they instantly turn on and connect to your iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad or Mac.(1) Audio automatically plays as soon as you put them in your ears and pauses when you take them out. To adjust the volume, change the song, make a call or even get directions, just double-tap to activate Siri.

Driven by the custom Apple W1 chip, AirPods use optical sensors and a motion accelerometer to detect when they’re in your ears. Whether you’re using both AirPods or just one, the W1 chip automatically routes the audio and engages the microphone. And when you’re on a call or talking to Siri, an additional accelerometer works with beamforming microphones to filter out background noise and focus on the sound of your voice. Because the ultra-low-power W1 chip manages battery life so well, AirPods deliver an industry-leading 5 hours of listening time on one charge.(2) And they’re made to keep up with you, thanks to a charging case that holds multiple additional charges for more than 24 hours of listening time.(3) Need a quick charge? Just 15 minutes in the case gives you 3 hours of listening time.(4)

The charge case with its tactile rounded edges and corners is a great place to keep them safe in a pocket or purse. Flip the lid and there they are nestling inside, ready for play and your iPhone is already paired. They also paired with my my iPad Air effortlessly and near intantaneously. No fiddling about in settings or entering code numbers is required. They fit my ears really well and show no signs of falling out though at my age I walk and do not jog. Given their price it would be fair to say I won't be taking these out on the ocean in my sea kayak though. The sound quality is superb especially considering that they are connected by bluetooth. Previous bluetooth earphones I have used have been a real faff to connect, the sound quality was tinny and they suffered frequent audio drop outs. Unlike some earphones, these do not seal your ear canal from the outside so if you are in a noisy environment, such as a busy road, they do let a fair bit of outside sound in. So if that is where you listen to music, you might be better with earphones which have soft rubber seals to keep road noise out. Not having to spend time untangling wires really sets you free and I certainly don't miss an earphone being tugged out by the wire that gets caught on a jacket when you take it off or turn your head etc. When I meet someone, I particularly love this feature: removing one AirPod causes the music to pause and you can have a chat. Then when you put it back in, the music starts again. If you chat too long the music stays paused but rather than getting the phone out of an inside pocket, you can just double tap the earphone to activate Siri and say "play". Unfortunately you need to be in WiFi range or have a decent phone signal for Siri to work. I have never used Siri on my iPhone, iPad or MacBook Pro, so for me the AirPods have proved to be the killer application to get me started using Siri. Making or receiving phone calls is also a breeze, double tap to start Siri and say "phone home" and that's it. The only downside (until they catch on) is that having two bits of white pasta sticking out your ears makes you look like a bit of an extra terrestrial. But at least they are not spaghetti like wires! It's good to see some innovation that has been really well implemented. They may be pricey enough to make your eyes water but at least your ears will be happy and free.

Flicked open the AirPod Case just to take a look and instantly my phone lit up with the connect screen, it is really that simple. I've owned these for about a month and I've found daily use with battey life brilliant for how small they are, the sound quality is amazing. The switch between iPad, Mac and even Apple TV is fluent and not a problem at all. I highly reccomend this product. Definitely worth more than £159 for the overall experience.

When I put the new AirPods in my ea I bought these AirPods because i get fed up with the corded type getting pulled from my ears every time I move in the chair! When I put the new AirPods in my ear for the first time I thought they will fall out but having tried to make them fall out they still stayed in place and after about 20 mins you wouldn't even know they were in. In my opinion worth every penny and absolutely delighted with my purchase.

The easiest and most clean cut headphones

There is no pressure on your ea After having faffed about with multiple brands and types of bluetooth headphone, I can conclude these are the best I've used. There is no pressure on your ear drum which can cause pain or discomfort, typically associated with high quality headphones or noise cancelling technology. No more wires, at all. The benefit of this is self explanatory and changes your day to day use hugely. Pro level battery life performance in real life use. Amazing sound quality, balanced and instantly satisfying. Not the highest sound quality, or the most conventional looking headphones, neither the cheapest, or the most colour options. However for all it's simplicity it delivers on the things that matter consistently. I would recommend these for almost anyone. Sports guys maybe go jaybird freedom, those who fly alot maybe Bose qc 35 ii's. Everyone else. Jump in.

I am in my 70's and for years have listened to music 90% on head or ear phones due to suffering from tinnitus and finding phones are better for some strange reason. To this end I have spent a LOT of money on kit. Into £1000s for the best according to audiophile opinion. I decided to try AirPods due to the perceived convenience and because I find EarPods with my iPhone 7 very acceptable sound wise but cable annoying. These AirPods are a masterpiece technically. They tick every box for convenience due to size, battery life and comfort fit. The quality of the sound is a long way better than I expected. I reach for them most of the time I am listening via my phone and not sitting down to the audiophile kit. I have been an Apple fan for several years and the AirPods continue the tradition of innovation and quality. Well done Apple!

Having seen a good friend with them recently I must admit I was easily swayed and opted to indulge in a pair and needless to say it’s not a decision I regret. Gone is the annoying habit of getting your wires tangled up and wondering why your music has stopped (because you’ve caught yourself too many times and pulled the cord out!) Audio quality is great but not stellar (sorry Apple); audiophiles will argue otherwise but I find my PowerBeats 3 have better range and quality over the AirPods. The charging case is great; it uses Apple’s Lightning cable which is useful if you have a few of them lying around at home. A few minutes in the case means you can easily listen beyond the quoted playback time of five hours. Also like the feature in whereby you can place both AirPods in the carry case. Open the lid and hold it near your iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad and it’ll show the battery life remaining in each AirPod plus the battery percentage of the case itself. All in all? Definitely the way forward and am glad Apple came out with this.
