    Wireless. Effortless. Magical.

AirPods will forever change the way you use headphones. Whenever you pull your AirPods out of the charging case, they instantly turn on and connect to your iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad or Mac.(1) Audio automatically plays as soon as you put them in your ears and pauses when you take them out. To adjust the volume, change the song, make a call or even get directions, just double-tap to activate Siri.

Driven by the custom Apple W1 chip, AirPods use optical sensors and a motion accelerometer to detect when they’re in your ears. Whether you’re using both AirPods or just one, the W1 chip automatically routes the audio and engages the microphone. And when you’re on a call or talking to Siri, an additional accelerometer works with beamforming microphones to filter out background noise and focus on the sound of your voice. Because the ultra-low-power W1 chip manages battery life so well, AirPods deliver an incredible 5 hours of listening time on one charge.(2) And they’re made to keep up with you, thanks to a charging case that holds multiple additional charges for more than 24 hours of listening time.(3) Need a quick charge? Just 15 minutes in the case gives you 3 hours of listening time.(4)

The charge case with its tactile rounded edges and corners is a great place to keep them safe in a pocket or purse. Flip the lid and there they are nestling inside, ready for play and your iPhone is already paired. They also paired with my my iPad Air effortlessly and near intantaneously. No fiddling about in settings or entering code numbers is required. They fit my ears really well and show no signs of falling out though at my age I walk and do not jog. Given their price it would be fair to say I won't be taking these out on the ocean in my sea kayak though. The sound quality is superb especially considering that they are connected by bluetooth. Previous bluetooth earphones I have used have been a real faff to connect, the sound quality was tinny and they suffered frequent audio drop outs. Unlike some earphones, these do not seal your ear canal from the outside so if you are in a noisy environment, such as a busy road, they do let a fair bit of outside sound in. So if that is where you listen to music, you might be better with earphones which have soft rubber seals to keep road noise out. Not having to spend time untangling wires really sets you free and I certainly don't miss an earphone being tugged out by the wire that gets caught on a jacket when you take it off or turn your head etc. When I meet someone, I particularly love this feature: removing one AirPod causes the music to pause and you can have a chat. Then when you put it back in, the music starts again. If you chat too long the music stays paused but rather than getting the phone out of an inside pocket, you can just double tap the earphone to activate Siri and say "play". Unfortunately you need to be in WiFi range or have a decent phone signal for Siri to work. I have never used Siri on my iPhone, iPad or MacBook Pro, so for me the AirPods have proved to be the killer application to get me started using Siri. Making or receiving phone calls is also a breeze, double tap to start Siri and say "phone home" and that's it. The only downside (until they catch on) is that having two bits of white pasta sticking out your ears makes you look like a bit of an extra terrestrial. But at least they are not spaghetti like wires! It's good to see some innovation that has been really well implemented. They may be pricey enough to make your eyes water but at least your ears will be happy and free.

Flicked open the AirPod Case just to take a look and instantly my phone lit up with the connect screen, it is really that simple. I've owned these for about a month and I've found daily use with battey life brilliant for how small they are, the sound quality is amazing. The switch between iPad, Mac and even Apple TV is fluent and not a problem at all. I highly reccomend this product. Definitely worth more than £159 for the overall experience.

      AirPods

I bought these AirPods because i get fed up with the corded type getting pulled from my ears every time I move in the chair! When I put the new AirPods in my ea I bought these AirPods because i get fed up with the corded type getting pulled from my ears every time I move in the chair! When I put the new AirPods in my ear for the first time I thought they will fall out but having tried to make them fall out they still stayed in place and after about 20 mins you wouldn't even know they were in. In my opinion worth every penny and absolutely delighted with my purchase.

      Amazing product!

I recently purchased the AirPods because of the issue of constantly accidentally pulling the EarPods out of your ears by the wire. And these fixed that problem I recently purchased the AirPods because of the issue of constantly accidentally pulling the EarPods out of your ears by the wire. And these fixed that problem excellently. They are so comfortable and they never fall out of my ears even with the most vigorous work outs. And the charge speed of these is just amazing they literally charge up in no time. As for the sound quality it’s pretty good it’s not amazing but then your not paying £200-£300 for headphones. The Bluetooth range is also really good as I can leave my phone on charge upstairs and go down to make a drink and still listen to music or take calls with no disruption. So overall it does exactly what it says on the tin. They are convenient, comfortable and useful. Would highly recommend.

Stopped working properly after 12 months

Unfortunately, after The setup process is easy and connecting to the AirPods is seamless unless you only want to use one then it can be tedious and unreliable. Unfortunately, after 12 months of daily but not intensive use, the sound being produced is now noticeably quieter with one or both of the AirPods disconnecting randomly during use. With apples 12 month warranty and abhorrent repair costs they have essentially become an expensive fashion statement as getting both repaired costs almost as much as a new pair.

Positives: Pairing with Apple products is initially magical Pairing with other devices is just like normal wireless earphones Paring with windows 10 (desktop/laptop) works and retains the double hit to pause or skip tracks Battery life seems to be good with both the case and AirPods, can last over a day - (with relatively low volume mind ) You will have better luck with these fitting and staying in your ears as there is no wire, however best to test this. [Subjective] pretty similar sound to EarPods included with iPhone Negatives: Pairing with multiple Apple devices, uses iCloud too, causes the airpods to get confused, even when locking one device and unlocking another. Not great. The double tap functionality requires more force, more like a slap, hit or hard tap to work - it is not touch sensitive but uses movement of the AirPod Bluetooth often gets interference especially with devices lower than iPhone 8 - tested iPhone SE too Battery life becomes terrible when using both airpods at medium could - barely lasts a day Build quality questionable, plastic on my AirPods wasn’t fitted well so had a ridge which became uncomfortable Sound quality not great for 159 Static sound very disruptive at low volumes - will occur when near other wireless devices, TVs and the like as it seems to only use one radio band. Which’s strength is based on volume used. I personally wouldn’t recommend having loud sounds in your ears as they can be damaged.
