A great keyboard except it's bent!

I always said that if ever A I've owned my previous Apple full size keyboard for around nine years and have always wanted a wireless version of the same thing. I always said that if ever Apple produced a wireless keyboard with numeric keypad, I'd buy one. On the day of WWDC when this keyboard appeared on the store, I ordered it. It arrived two days later, fantastic, worked perfectly. Three days after that, it just stopped working. So I contacted Applecare and had it replaced. Again, no real issue, it worked and I liked the freedom of being wireless. I also like the new low profile style. However I noticed that it was curved, it was really bent towards the centre. I contacted Applecare who told me I'd need to take it into an Apple store to be replaced. Yesterday I had a chance to do this. A genius examined it and determined that yes, it's bent. He got me another one which we checked and that was bent as well. We went through a couple of them and they were all bent! We also checked the ones on the display Macs and they all had different levels of bent-ness. It wasn't consistent. If it wasn't for the fact that I've just bought a new iMac which I placed a custom order for with this new keyboard and it's not bent, I'd think this is part of the design. But I've got one which is flat. Many of them are bent. I ended up getting a refund. I hope they get a redesign to make them a bit stronger and well, less bent!

The bends are about 3mm both side and cause the keypad to rock. I'm not the only one to have experienced this judging by others online. This must be a manufacturing line problem as why would you have pads on the underside if they don't make contact with the surface the unit is placed on?!. Faced with an annoying and inconvenient return.

If you've used the Magic Keyboard then this has the same softer key action and a lower angle than its wired predecessor which I feel are better. It sounds feintly ridiculous but if you've been working on the compact keyboards you will have forgotten how great it is to have the extra function keys for app shortcuts and to be able to enter numeric info rapidly without tapping out numbers at half speed. It's hard to wax lyrical about a keyboard, but this is one is great.

Not bent, but very shallow angle and no means of changing the angle

Presumably Apple knows better than Well, I guess I am one of the lucky ones that has a flat keyboard, but the angle is very shallow, and it cannot be changed. Presumably Apple knows better than I do what angle I want to type at. :) And the keyboard travel is very short. I hope that I will get used to that, presumably it is part of the "Apple thin" philosophy that over-permeates everything they do...

But I agree with Tony, when you are typing the keyboard dips in the middle, so much so that the bottom of the keyboard gets all scratched. And as many have mentioned, for a high expensive quality product I don't think it's good enough from Apple.
