  • Overview

Thin, light and easy to grip — this case lets you enjoy the look of iPhone XR while providing extra protection. It’s also crafted with a blend of optically clear polycarbonate and flexible TPU materials, so the case fits right over the buttons for easy use. On the surface, a scratch-resistant coating has been applied not only to the exterior, but also to the interior. Need to wirelessly charge? Just leave the case on your iPhone and set it on your Qi charger.

Leaves terrible 'contact patches' completely spoiling the look of the phone

The case itself looks robust and protective, and to that end it is quite stiff and very hard to get on, even harder to get off.... like REALLY REALLY hard! We accepted this, but the nail in the coffin is the horrible, horrible 'contact patch' clearly visible where the case makes contact with a central area of the back of the iPhone. On our white iPhones this leaves a horrible dark grey patch in appearance like a bad bruise. This is not moisture or dirt but simply the contact of the TPU case material on the glass-backed iPhone. We even took them off and refitted being super careful not to touch any part of the back of the iPhone or case, but to no avail. For SUCH an expensive (£45!) case we would have expected Apple to have tested this out and reached their own conclusions that this is clearly unsuitable to sell as a product, unless you really don't care how your iPhone looks. We are very frustrated Apple only sell this case and a couple of Otterbox cases for the XR, whereas the XS has hundred of official Apple cases in various colours and finishes. Come on Apple, give XR customers some options also! As it stands we do NOT recommend this case at all for any iPhone XRs. AVOID!

I definitely would not recommend this case to use with your XR. There are better ones around and at better price too.

It's too slippery in hand, causing constant anxiety it might fall when removing from a pocket or bag, and that's with the very deliberate extra gripping (compared to silicone) it demands. The volume buttons are also much too stiff. Aesthetics have definitely taken priority of ergonomics here. Apple, please launch a silicone case for the XR!

      Good easy to fit case

I’ve not had the issue that some other reviewers have had where there’s a ‘contact patch’ on the back. I have a blue XR so not sure if it depends on the colour I’ve not had the issue that some other reviewers have had where there’s a ‘contact patch’ on the back. I have a blue XR so not sure if it depends on the colour you have? But anyway this case is pretty easy to fit, harder to get off but then you want it to stay on I guess! Completely clear with no logos on the back like some companies put on their cases. You can tell it’s not just plastic but a slight rubbery coating on the case also, which makes grip better. The case comes out a bit at the front around the edges so that if you drop the phone on it’s front the screen won’t get smashed. Only thing I would say is make sure the back glass of your phone is clean before you apply the case. Mine wasn’t so I had to remove it and clean the back.

Worst Apple product I have ever owned

At £45 you would expect this to be one of the Took this straight back for a refund, wish I had read the reviews on here before purchasing with my new iPhone XR. At £45 you would expect this to be one of the best cases for the iPhone XR. Far from it. Mine had a manufacturing fault on the inside of the case that was visible on the back due to the transparent nature of the product. The case is way too thick - adding bulk to an already thicker than average phone. And as others have noted, getting the case on and off your phone takes patience, strength and a lot of time. Then there’s the fingerprinting issue. The shiny nature of the case means it never looks clean. OK, so I opted for the black phone that creates a mirror-like back surface, but I’m sure it will also be a problem with other phone colours. Best avoided in my opinion. Hope Apple takes note and makes the standard silicone case available for this model iPhone at some point.

I haven't had the problems others have had around bubbles etc - I have used a lens cloth on both phone and case before putting them together. I do agree that Apple should also offer the standard silicone and leather cases too - why the XR has so little choice is very puzzling.
