  • Overview

Crafted from specially tanned and finished French leather for a luxurious look and feel, the iPhone XS Max Leather Folio fits snugly around your iPhone. Open it and your iPhone XS Max wakes up. Close it and it goes to sleep. Inside there’s a soft microfibre lining for even more protection, and space to hold your banknotes, receipts and several cards. And you can keep it on all the time, even when you’re charging wirelessly.

However, this case must be judged against the cost and at £129 expectations are suitably high. As I see it the main disappointments can be summarised as follows: • The case does not provide a desktop stand so that you can view movies etc. without having to hold the phone. Watching content therefore involves bending the case back after which it takes ages to fully close again. • The phone does not offer any form of magnetic closure and so takes a long time to close flush. • The case does not feel substantial enough to justify the cost and the cover is not rigid. • My particular example has a small indentation in the leather next to the Apple Logo. In a way, it is easy to try and justify the cost as 10% of the phone outlay to offer Apple approved levels of protection but the reality is that you will find better folio cases for under £20 elsewhere that will offer more protection and features even if they do not look quite as stylish. My advice is to look elsewhere, there is absolutely no justification for the price of this item, it does not do anything that cannot be achieved just as well elsewhere at a fraction of the cost.
