  • Overview

A modern interpretation of a design developed in Milan at the end of the 19th century. Woven on specialised Italian machines, the smooth stainless steel mesh wraps fluidly around your wrist. And because it’s fully magnetic, the Milanese Loop is infinitely adjustable, ensuring a perfect fit. An additional diamond-like carbon (DLC) layer gives the space black stainless steel its distinctive finish.

      disappointing - pros and cons

It looks very smart and and is infinitely adjustable around my wrist. However after two weeks of wearing it I have found some downsides. The wide strap to go with the wide watch takes up a lot of room and as I flex my wrist the edge gets pushed against my hand; the edge is quite "sharp" and has marked my skin on occasion. The strap adds a significant extra to the weight of the watch. The biggest flaw is that the magnetic catch mechanism can withstand very little stress; normal activity and wrist flex pulls on the strap and the catch slides back along it, the strap becomes loose, so I am forever having to tighten it up again. A minor annoyance is that when the strap is fully open the catch folds back right next to the watch and is difficult to detach - the strap could do with a non-magnetic section immediately behind the magnet to leave the catch free.
