  • Overview

    More magical than ever.

The new AirPods deliver the wireless headphone experience, reimagined. Just pull them out of the charging case and they’re ready to use with your iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad or Mac.

After a simple one-tap setup, AirPods work like magic. They’re automatically on and always connected. AirPods can even sense when they’re in your ears and pause when you take them out.

To adjust the volume, change the song, make a call or even get directions, simply say “Hey Siri” and make your request. You have the freedom to wear one or both AirPods, and you can play or skip forward with a double-tap when listening to music or podcasts.

AirPods deliver 5 hours of listening time1 and 3 hours of talk time on a single charge.2 And they’re made to keep up with you, thanks to a charging case that holds multiple charges for more than 24 hours of listening time.3 Need a quick charge? Just 15 minutes in the case gives you 3 hours of listening time4 or 2 hours of talk time.5

Powered by the all-new Apple H1 headphone chip, AirPods use optical sensors and motion accelerometers to detect when they’re in your ears. Whether you’re using both AirPods or just one, the H1 chip automatically routes the audio and engages the microphone. And when you’re on a call or talking to Siri, an additional speech-detecting accelerometer works with beamforming microphones to filter out external noise and focus on the sound of your voice.

      Love it

I just bought my first pair of AirPods and I can say that I’m already in love with this product. After I purchased it I was worried about how they will fit in I just bought my first pair of AirPods and I can say that I’m already in love with this product. After I purchased it I was worried about how they will fit in my ears or what if I’ll break them, but they actually worth to spend this price on them because it’s actually making my life easier as an EarPods addicted and they fit better in my ear than the EarPods that are coming with the iPhone. The sound is really good and loud and also Siri is improved as well and as I use Siri a lot, it works really good.

They feel solid, the way they snap in to the case magnetically, the way the case snaps shut, the way when you opne the case lid near your phone the picture pops up on the screen showing you the battery level of both airpods and the case! The way when you put them in your ears the phone just hooks up to them automatically and the way the music stops when you take one of them out of your ear! Sounds like a perfect product? well.... for me it isnt. The poor fit which some people just seem to be able to get away with didnt work for me, I dont understand why Apple dont provide some different types of ear tips that you can choose from? Every other earbud mnaufacturer and I mean EVERY other, give you an array of ear tips / buds to chhose from to try and ensure their product will work for every one. Apple seem to have gone with a "Well, it works for 65% of people so thats good enough for us". The real downside to the fit its that they dont cancel out background noise. Im not talking about Active Noise Cancelling, Im talking about when ear buds expand in your ear and form a seal which blocks out back ground noise. Because they dont do that, you can hear so much external noise, you start to turn them up more and more to be able to enjoy your music without back ground noise but all you are doing is damaging your hearing. If they'd included so changable ear buds / tips and made the case to fit them... these would have been the best True wireless earbuds on the planet. As its stands.... that title goes to the Jabra Elite Active 65t.

Poor fit, sound quality and value for money

Have had them for a few weeks now and still find the fit uncomfortable - constantly adjusting for best fit, especially the left bud. The sound quality is nowhere near as good as my old earpods that were a quarter of the price (not Apple) and noise reduction is badly needed, especially for London underground travellers. Already after a few weeks the shiny case is scuffed front and back even though carried on it's own in a coat pocket. (I did this as another reviewer mentioned the case scratching easily). On the plus side do like the instant connection and the voice-activated Siri feature but these alone do not make the Airpods value for money. I did want to return but realised I was out of the very short 14-day return period.

Both of these on the Apple Store are the 2nd Generation, featuring the new H1 chip with “Hey Siri” and the faster connectivity and audio quality. If you look in the description and tech specs, both the $159 and $199 feature the same AirPods, with the only difference being the charging case. The wireless charging case may be purchased separately as well for $79. Hope this helps!

You can get AirPods second-generation with either wireless charging case or standard case without wireless charging. You can tell them apart by seeing if the LED indicator is placed on the outside of the case. If it isn’t, you have the standard case, without support for wireless charging, and you would have to purchase the Wireless Charging case separately (you do not have to purchase new AirPods, just a different case). If you do have a wireless charging case, you should contact Apple Support since it might be faulty.
