WIll this work if I plug an HDMI cable in?

I want to plug my hdmi cable into the vga side of the mini displayport adapter. WIll it work if I plug my hdmi into the vga end?

    no, it will not work,as HDMI and VGA are different ports.
    if you wanted to plug in HDMI to your mini display port mac, either buy the mini display port to DVI adaptor and but a DVI to HDMI converter
    or
    buy a third party mini display port to HDMI adaptor.
