- Flag as inappropriate (How to Download Lion 10.7 from the apple store I am currently running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and want to update to Lion)
Best Answer:Hi Rebecca,
You may not still need this, but I spent hours and hours trying to figure this out. Here's the answer:
1) Open the App Store (if you don't see it, type in "App Store" using Search from top right hand corner)
2) Navigate to Categories from tool bar at top (in the middle, next to Top Charts and Purchased)
3) Now look in top right corner of App Store window and under Quick Links you will see Redeem (this text is gray and hard to see)
4) Click on Redeem
5) Enter code
Hope this help anybody else from wasting as much time as I wasted on this...- Answered by Colby L from Piedmont

Best Answer:Ask an Apple expert if your particular computer can upgrade. My Macbook can only go as far as Lion, as I was told by someone at Apple. If you want to upgrade from Leopard (what you have now) to Lion, first you will have to upgrade to Snow Leopard by buying the discs. Then you can purchase Lion here and download it.

AnswerNo those MacBooks are limited to 10.7.5 Lion out of the box. You can however browse the web because there are people who have already done it. You might need to mod something with the drivers and such and definitely replace your wireless adapter to one that supports 10.8 or higher.

Best Answer:
No, upgrading your Operating System does not require you to erase the hard drive. All your files, applications, and settings will be transferred over. Be sure to backup your computer using a external hard drive + Time Machine first, to be safe. Also, verify all of your 3rd party programs that you've downloaded/installed and make sure they are compatible in 10.7 or have updates to make them compatible.
