Answer
USB type A is what you would find on any mac 2015 or older. USB type c is on the newer macs 2016-2017. It's pretty much saying they have both wires in the box depending on what computer you own. Hope that helps a little.

This question does not make sense as stated. The iPhone does not have a USB connector for this device. It is technically not called memory but storage. It has features that allow it to get power from a USB port which makes it very useful as a "mobile" or portable drive.

Can iTunes use library stored on this device
- Asked by James S from Winnipeg
- 22-Apr-2017
- Flag as inappropriate (Can iTunes use library stored on this device)
AnswerYes, But it may not be labelled as "iTunes Library". However if you use Migration Assistant to upload what is on the drive to a new computer, all of your saved music will appear in iTunes the way it did on the computer you were originally backing up to the drive.

Does this hard drive come with password protection? Nothing I read about using the disk utility to password protect a drive seems to work.
- Asked by Andrew M from La Crescenta

AnswerYou can encrypt the drive (I assume using a password, I have had 4 G-Drives but never encrypted any of them) in Time Machine when you set up the drive as the location for backup. It might be an obviously offered option, it might be in Time Machine preferences, but it is definitely an offered option and it is not in disk utilities.

Will this work work with USB 2 port on early 2008 MacBook Pro?
- Asked by Mitch S from Albany
- 15-Feb-2017
- Flag as inappropriate (Will this work work with USB 2 port on early 2008 MacBook Pro?)
AnswerUSB-C is USB 3.0 and USB-A is the regular rectangular side of a USB 2.0. A C to A cable is a USB 3.0 to USB 2.0 cable, so yes, though it would be extremely slow.
