How is this able to be adjusted once installed?
I need to install my iMac above a roll top desk, but then be able to pull it forward and down to use it, before moving back so the desk can be closed up.
- Asked by Monty L from Crowley

- Flag as inappropriate (How is this able to be adjusted once installed?)
AnswerNo adjustment is possible to this product. It is simply a bracket that replaces the foot of the iMac and ALLOWS it to be attached to a mount. The adjustments you're talking about (pivot, tilt, extend) would be a feature of whatever mount you buy.

How does this modification change the weight of the assembly?
On the 27" Cinema display (A1316) how much does this modification affect the weight of the assembly. It starts at 23.5 lbs. Making this mod means removing the pedestal and adding the adaptor plate. When looking at the load rating of swing arm mounts it might make a difference.

Can I use this on a 27" iMac with 5K retina display or do I have to buy the one already set up?
Can I use this on a 27" iMac with 5K retina display or do I have to buy the one already set up? I really want to get one with the stand with option to add wall-mount it later.

Best Answer:The 5K iMac can not have a VESA mount fitted to it, you have to buy the iMac with it pre-fitted (in which case you do not get the iMac "foot" stand, and can not fit one of those later)

Can this VESA mount adaptor be used for a 20" iMac?
- Asked by Margaret F

AnswerNo, this product cannot be used with a 20" iMac. The internal frame and foot are not designed to be removeable, so this will not attach correctly to the unit.

Can you tilt the monitor with this adapter kit?
Most VESA mounts have the ability to tilt and rotate but I was just curious if tilting was built into this adapter kit.

AnswerNo. This product is simply a bracket that replaces the display foot and allows it to be attached to a wall mount, which is not included. Tilting and pivoting would be a feature of the mount.

Can I use the VESA mount adapter for the current 21.5 inch iMAC? I just bought, will not fit on my desk under the hutch, need a way to lower by 1"

- Flag as inappropriate (Can I use the VESA mount adapter for the current 21.5 inch iMAC? I just bought, will not fit on my desk under the hutch, need a way to lower by 1")
Best Answer:I have the EXACT Same Problem .. All 3rd party VESA mounts that I find require you to keep the iMAC 21.5" base on which makes my iMAC too tall. I have a need to mount my iMAC 21.5" under a kitchen cabinet that is 1/8" too tall. I assume the VESA kit you are talking about is MC434ZM/A.
Everything that I'm reading shows hat the base of the iMAC 21.5" is not removable. This is very dissapointing if true.- Answered by Richard G from Howell

Best Answer:
No. It does not fit the older (2007/2008) 23" or 30" Cinema HD Displays.
I have one of each and moved from the residence at which I originally purchased the displays. I had a desk specially designed for wall mounted displays. We moved in, I unpacked my MacPro and Displays, and realized the adaptor only fits the newer ... displays.
Several 3rd party vendors list the needed part (M9649 G/A) on their sites, but all seem to be discontinued.
I am desperately seeking the part since I would have to rebuild my new office to use the desk stands! Ahhh, c'est la vie!- Answered by Richard G from Northport

WHAT IS THE DEPTH OF A MOUNTED IMAC SCREEN? SPECIFICALLY, A 27' (ON STAND IS 8.15", I'M WONDERING WHAT THE DEPTH IS MOUNTED). THANKS

Best Answer:This will depend on your wall mount, but mine is just a hair under 7" when retracted as close to the wall as possible. The depth of the iMac + the mounting plate only is about 3.5", so add to that the depth of your selected wall mount for a total depth.

AnswerYes it will, we are probably one of the only very few people who still have one of these (amazing!) Machines. I love my white iMac it works perfectly. You just have to google for the guide to install it. It requires an Apple Access Card (you can make one yourself too! Just google it)

Can you use a VESA mount for an I-pad on a wheelchair?
The client has an otter box cover on an i-pad which is too thick to fit in a Ram-mount which we got last week. Maybe we can adapt it if we can fit into a VESA mount..
Many thanks, Marian Foley.- Asked by Marian F

- Flag as inappropriate (Can you use a VESA mount for an I-pad on a wheelchair?)
Best Answer:First of all, this product is not a VESA mount itself. It is an adapter that allows you to USE a standard VESA mount. Also it works only with the listed Apple displays by replacing the mounting arm.
Since the RAM mount will securely clamp the iPad to the wheelchair, IMO it seems like the Otter Box may be overkill. Perhaps you could just take the iPad out of the Otter Box? (According to the RAM site, the arm won't accept ANY case on the iPad.)
Good luck!- Answered by Eric O from Rockford

What is it's depth?
- Asked by Brook G from Burra
- 19-Aug-2014
- Flag as inappropriate (What is it's depth?)
AnswerThe plate adds less than one inch of depth (about .75") to the total depth of the computer. That's for the mounting plate ONLY; you would need to add the depth of your mount. The front of my iMac is exactly 7" from the wall (that's about 3" of computer and plate, and 4" of mount).
