    Faulty design and manufacturing

    • Written by Benjamin Harry S from Ripon

The charger was included when I purchased my macbook pro. The macbook works beautifully, but the charger wire has started to come apart, despite light use. I find the poor quality disappointing, especially considering the premium price attached to apple products.

    Total rip-off

    • Written by Marco J from glastonbury

I'm on my fourth one of these. How can apple justify charging this amount for something that has the durability of a plastic fork?! No wonder they're the biggest company in the world! After 20 years on macs I'm migrating to Pc's for this and other reasons

Only giving one star because zero isn't possible

As with so many others the cable frays/disintegrates at the MagSafe connector. This is the second time this has happened and given the scorch marks around the disintegrated cable outer it could easily have started a fire. If this was on a car there would be an urgent recall. Come on Apple if you are going to charge so much then at least make it a quality durable item.

    Genuinely ruining my life.

    • Written by Charlie K from Lydbury North

Never would I ever recommended Apple products to anyone.
I'm a student, so my laptop is very essential for me, so I have had to fork out a ton of money buying new chargers for my MacBook because they keep breaking!! I've been through two in the last year, seriously so so over priced for something that's totally unreliable and doesn't work.
Would recommended getting a knock off one, they're still awful too but at least you won't be spending a fortune everytime this thing inevitably breaks. Apple plz sort ur shiz out :(

The cables wear easily from both ends. The only reason anyone would but this is because they have no other choice.

Extortionately priced for extremely poor quality. My cable (purchased 2014 for £69) set fire and melted and no longer works. There are clear scorch marks on the cable and all the wires where the cable meets the power pack are singed. In the end I had to buy a new cable (now £79). The first MagSafe charger I had (issued 2009) was made well and lasted several years, without the rubber casing of the cables splitting, and eventually it just quietly stopped working. In contrast, the rubber casing of the replacement I bought in 2014 split just outside of warranty. In the end I fixed it with electrical tape - literally the only reason it was still usable. As far as I can tell, the rubber of the newer chargers is thinner than what Apple was using before. Apple should fix it, or at least charge what they're worth, no more than £20.

    Very Disappointed

    • Written by Tia C from london

similar to other reviews, this charger does not seem to last very long and frails and tears so easily which shouldn't be the case for the face that it is so expensive.
the price of the charger should reflect the quality of the charger too, which it doesn't so i am very disappointed at the fact i now have to folk out another 80 quid in order to keep my laptop charged ! ridiculous

    Room for improvement

    • Written by Edward A

+ Correctly titled - it's an Apple power adapter
    + Cardboard box included
+ Might stay intact, provided you never, ever touch it (ever)

    - £80 price tag for £5 build quality
    - Wire is permanently coiled up like a wonky spring
    - I could probably pick apart the wire casing with my fingernails, or a moderate sneeze

Absolute rubbish. Cheaply made but costly to buy. Magnetic fixing started to kink and seperate from cable after only around 18 months and of course out of warranty period. Will be buying non Apple next for a bit of longevity.

All this hate for this product seems ? - Not from me.

    • Written by Alistair L from Epsom

Weird all this hate for this product.
Granted the 60W adaptor i have with my macbook is the ORIGINAL from 2010, and not a replacement ...
Perhaps newer ones are made to inferior standards? - Lower quality material to cut costs etc?
Apart from being grubby, the cables, both from the power socket to the adaptor & the mag-safe cable to the macbook, are in perfect condition! - Adaptor itself is doing its job nicely, with zero problems in nearly 8 years now.

Go figure ... But i won't be getting on the hate band waggon, when i personally have had zero issues!
    Five Stars!

    Not even worth 0 stars...

    • Written by Emma O from Reading

    Let me put it simply:

The price for this power adapter is absolutely ridiculous. The cables are made so badly that the cable starts to fray from various points no matter how nicely you fold this up (properly - as shown by multiple apple staff).

If you want a laugh, go into the store or ask online about why your adapter is fraying and they'll tell you that they are shocked as they have "never had this issue" - keep asking this until you've asked at least 7 (I have) and then take a look amongst all these other reviews. Funny that no-onw working for apple has had this issue, yet hundreds have?

Sort it out apple, if you're going to rip us off with the price, at least make a product that works.

    • Written by Joanna M from haughton nr tarporley

Unfortunately I have had same experience as everyone else: new charger at an extortionate price given there is no alternative which then fails within 3 months of purchase. It worked fine for a couple of months then wouldn't charge the lap top , then started charging again but yesterday the magnetic head snapped off its casing making the cable totally useless. Ridiculous, disappointing and totally unacceptable that I have to buy yet another one in order to use my laptop. 1 star is way over generous.

    Absolutely useless

    • Written by Megan W from South Shields

I am disgusted at the price of this charger compared to the durability. I have had this charger for a grand total of two months and it has completely broken. For weeks the charger has been going off with the slightest bit of movement and now it is totally unresponsive. I am dumbfounded at the fact that these £80 chargers are our only options and they are lasting no more than two to three months. Classic Apple charging absurd prices for sub-standard products.

    Too expensive!!

    • Written by Jen L from Portsmouth

I had to buy a replacement charger due to my original chargers insulation splitting & exposing the cables. I was disgusted to learn of the price of a replacement charger. It is far too expensive but I have no choice but to buy one in order to continue using my laptop. It leaves me strongly doubting as to whether I would buy another Apple product in the future due to the excess expenses.

The worst thing in Apple product line.

    • Written by Jianzhong Y from Purley

Same story as all other users. I've bought replacements from Apple several times. Obviously this is a product quality issue, and Apple simply wants its customers to pay the bill for it. Giving one star is over generous.

    • Written by Matthew C from Stone

So poorly designed, typical apple prioritizing form over function. Design them with strain relief at either end obviously! This is my tenth adapter, had some genuine from Apple shops, some probably fake one ones from ebay and they're all as bad as each other. The one star rating is generous.
