    Atrocious Quality

I am now on my third power adaptor. The last one didn't last 10 months! Quality of Apple products isn't what it used to be. Very disappointed and not what I would have expected from Apple.

    This. Thing. Gets. Hot. !!

Haven't had it long enough to speak about durability but all I'l say is that this is the one thing in my house that I make 110% sure I don't leave on overnight.

    3rd one in 18 months...

Honestly I look after my stuff, intact I am one of the most organised people I know when it comes to this stuff. For my wire to break for the 2nd time resulting in the purchase of Mac charger III, I was not amused to say the least. Just badly designed and a real let down, especially when considering the price of the device it charges.

    Disgraceful

Looking at all the reviews, I shouldn’t have had been surprised that my charger just stopped working. I tried a different apple lead and in case it was the existing lead which had the problem, but the transformer just shorted out. After scrounging to buy this overpriced MacBook Pro (which I thought would better quality accessories), I am really disappointed as I could have used the £2500 to buy a cheaper laptop for each family member. What a shame as I can’t afford to spend £79 every year for a charger, I don’t think I will purchase another Apple product.

    Be careful - potential hazard!

My MacBook Pro Retina adapter has started oozing green goo from where the cable joins the head, presumably due to the wires within overheating. No wonder my Mac has been acting up! I can't charge it now because the adaptor is a hazard and my nearest Apple Store is miles away, so once my battery dies I'll be powerless...and a replacement costs almost £80! Suffice to say I'm not impressed, especially given what I forked out for the MacBook in the first place.

I would caution anyone with a MacBook to keep an eye on their charger lest it become a fire hazard.

Tired of buying expensive cables that works as well as a potato battery.

While I love my mac, this is absolutely the worst charger. Clearly designed to break and to force people to buy new ones every couple of years. This will be the 3rd charger in a few years, and has reached a point were it melted the outer cable and started to smoke. I have always loved apple products, but sadly the decline in workmanship and cheap money making tricks means that this will most certainly be the last apple product I purchase. If i could give 0 stars i would.

    Inconvenient and flimsy

Had two charges brake, each lasting less than two years.

    - Having the transformer be directly part of the plug means that it is sometimes impossible to plug it in to sockets that are low to the ground.
    - The cable shielding on both ends begins to deform and peels away within a year.
    - The cable pegs that pop out are very delicate and snap off without much encouragement.

    The price tag is obscene.

    Getting really hot

I use my Mac everyday and I have issues with the PowerBox which is getting extremely hot. The cable is also now deteriorated and the bare wires are exposed. It isn't safe and really expensive to purchase. Really disappointed.

    Very poor quality, short life-span

In the case of this power adaptor, you are better off buying a cheap, dodgy knock-off version on ebay. It will probably last longer!!!!! It's the third replacement in less than five years, which is very frustrating because I really try to look after my stuff. The issues I've faced are tearing of the cable, massive overheating and dangerously exposed wires.

I've been an Apple user since 1996. Always swore by their products, (particularly the performance and build quality) even though they were always massively overpriced and often forced you to use non-standard connections for power and other connectivity. By the mid-to-late 2000's I noticed a huge decline in their products and this charger is most likely the last product I will purchase from Apple.

    Strange!

I have read the reviews and I am astonished. The charger I brought is perfect has a good quality feel about it and I have encountered zero issues.

I have never managed to get a power adapter to last 12 months. These are just the worst product.

    POWER FAILURE!!!!

I'm astonished that my power adapter has just blown after such low usage. I replaced the fuse twice to no avail. Now after seeing all of these negative reviews I feel that even a new £70 adapter won't last. Come on Apple if you can build reliable computers surely a reliable power adapter has to be a breeze. This is the first time I've had a power adapter fail on me, even cheap ones from other devices have outlasted this supposed quality product.

    Not good.

I can pretty much echo most of the reviews on this product. It gets hot and the end is fraying. Yes i will need to replace it as I use the computer in a work place and the cable will not pass the electrical safety test (PAT)

    Unreasonably poor quality chargers

A simple review in line with all others - why, when you manufacture such amazing products, would you create such a fantastically sub par product to go with it? The build and material quality on the cables is absolutely dreadful. The mark up on made on a £79.00 charger must be ludicrous and if it's not, I seriously question your choice of inputs - if indeed your supplier is charging you anything more that pennies for the materials you're getting taken for a ride Apple. Please, for the love of quality, sort out your chargers.

    Short life time

From reading these reviews I've realized that I'm not the only one who's charger shorted out after just 16 months of use. To be fair I do tend to accidentally leave my charger on fabrics or when removing it I don't do so extremely gently but isn't that the point of MagSafe, to be able to pull the cable out without damaging it or the laptop? I think that Apple should 1.Bring back MagSafe to new laptops. 2.Make the power box bigger to try and reduce heating. 3.Make the cable going into the computer thicker as it becomes very flimsy making it brittle and maybe it being so thin be the reason why the box may overheat? I am not an expert but I would consider some changes to make the charger's life last longer and also for such a weak charger why does it cost £79!? That's just disgraceful

    Gets too hot!!

I have bought three new MagSafe Power Adaptors now. Come on Apple....your adapters get too hot and the cable becomes scorched and splits exposing the wires after a very short time. Read all of the poor reviews. We can't all be wrong. This will be a Class Action waiting to happen if a fire occurs!!

    Terrible product

Considering Apples prestige of products and attention to detail, this is a real shame.
The charger gets really hot to the point that is is a possible fire hazard, too hot to touch and I do not dare to put near any fabrics or carpets. I understand batteries get hot when in use but this is really worrying, make the charger bigger? fire proof the charger with a heat resistant material?

    Thank you.

    Not good

This will be my third charger. They all fail. Too hot / Too flimsy. Apple just expects people to keep buying a product clearly unfit for purpose. Very dissatisfied and disappointed.

    Poor Design

The cable that runs from the adapter to the mac is prone to breaking where the cable meets the bulky adapter, it's just too weak and cannot be replaced without buying an entirely new unit. Ironically the cable that plugs into the power supply can be replaced but it's built like a tank. Stunningly poor design from Apple, makes me wonder if it's intentionally bad so as to sell more overpriced adapters.
Magnetic connector is an excellent feature though.
