    • Written by Sampermans J from Beijing

Simply unusable. Looking for a adapter to connect iphone. Store recommended this.
Doesn’t connect to any of my devices...?????? Not iPhone X, iPad Pro or MAC.
Staff in the shop should know what to recommend.
Aso getting fed up with Apple designing new adapters all the time.
expensive, not user friendly and makes me want to switch nrand

    Disappointing

    • Written by Laura R from Perth

The adapter works ok but will not play HDR films downloaded from ITunes, can’t find any support on this. An expensive piece of hardware that should state that it is not compatible with HDR movies. If I’d know that then I would not have purchased either the lives or the adapter. Very disappointing

Defective (even after a warranty swap)

    • Written by Jai R from Barnet

For £49 this is daylight robbery. The adapter didn’t work the first time I used it as the picture quality kept flickering. I then got it swapped under warranty and now a different type of flickering happens. Both adaptors have been defective, even after changing the HDMI cable to a better quality one to verify it wasn’t that. I’m very disappointed. I don’t blame people for buying cheap/fake adaptors now.

    Expensive but works great!

    • Written by Muzaffer B from London

I bought this cable without reading the reviews in here. It was cutting off when I moved the phone like other users and while searching the issue online, I read all the reviews and a bit disappointed. I wanted to give another chance and replaced the cable in Apple Store and it had issues again. So I decided to return it, went to Apple Store again, explained the issue and the guy said “can I take a look at your phone?” I gave my phone to him and he pulled out lots of dust from the lightning port! He told me it will be OK now and guess what, he was right! Nothing is wrong with the cable, it’s perfect, it was all about the dust because I carry my phone in my pocket all the time. Yes a little bit pricey but it’s a genuine Apple product, what were you expecting? If you have issues with this cable, clean up your iPhone's/iPad's lightning port please.

    Faultless product

    • Written by Richard S from Ware

I was a little concerned by the negative reviews, however I can confirm that as of today this product functions without fault on my iPad Pro 12.9” (iOS 11.4.1), and my iPhone X (iOS 12). The products immediately jumps to life, and gives you a blue bar for a few seconds to remind you that the screen is being mirrored on an external display.

I was also pleased to find that when you play videos, or show photos from the Photos app, the media fills the entire display of the external display which is great for watching videos from apps such as Plex. Other apps like Netflix / On demand TV apps don’t play due to licensing reasons.

    Amazing bit of kit

    • Written by Scott G from killingworth

When you buy an Apple product, it works. Buy a cheap one off eBay and it wont. SIMPLE. Quality comes at a price and this is seriously the best accessory available. 5 Stars from me.

    Expensive bit of plastic

    • Written by James G from Northampton

Was working fine until I updated my IOS, then my monitor no longer recognises the input. Renders my iPad useless now as I use it only for work and I needed it for presentations. It also renders the iPad pretty pointless for anything other than travelling in my opinion. (unless you're happy to fork out for an Apple TV box, but why would you need an iPad then?)

    Effective but expensive

    • Written by Nasim U from Ilford

Good product, works with my tv well. I have to remove my case for the lightning cable to fit in properly. Way more expensive than it should be.

Lightning socket of adapter only allows power transfer - not data!

    • Written by Toby W from London

Bought with FLIR IR camera that connects through lightning socket. Unfortunately, found out the hard way the lightning socket of the digital av adapter is for power only, and will not allow data to go through!

After several of these adapters, I give up with it, I use this adaptor for my stereo in my car but a loose connection within the cable occurs after a couple hours of use. Apple recommended me to test the cables I use in the car (lightening cable & hdmi cable) And even changed the cables to new cables and admittedly it started to work after only for it to stop working a day later. I personally think this adapter damages your HDMI cables causing it to have a loose connection making music or video to cut in and out whenever the cable is moved especially going over bumps in the car is frustrating. Apples only suggestion was to buy another cable which was in warranty and to continue to change it whenever it broke causing me ongoing inconvenience

I used it for my iPad Pro, it works fine with TV progammes with iTunes and Netflix. So far the only app that didn't work is Sky Go. Otherwise it's working fine.

I have bought nearly every apple product on the market and was trying to play my iPad on the tv in my daughters room to save having to buy another Apple TV, it just doesn't work, one minute it's working a minute down the line no signal, now trying to obtain a refund or replacement

    Perfect for my use

    • Written by Richard K from London

I bought this simply to be able to mirror my iPad screen onto a large tv. I rent films from iTunes onto my iPad and iPhone. Watching a film on an iPhone is less than ideal so this cable allows me to watch films (or my photos and videos) on a large screen. For that purpose this cable is perfect.

Outrageously expensive, worked OK, but now cuts out if you move it

    • Written by Jonathan M from Warwick

Very lazy design, £40 is way too expensive for this. Why did Apple not mould the Lightning connector into the other end of the block so as to give a strong and rigid design. Most HDMI cables are heavy so inevitably the short stiff piece of cable that connects to the Lightning plug will be under bending loads however careful you are, and hence they fail early. Mine has lasted about 6 months and now cuts out if you so much as touch it - as have many other peoples if you read all the negative reviews. It actually worked very well before it started to break which is all the more frustrating. Shame on you Apple, selling expensive, poorly designed and badly made rubbish as accessories for your otherwise excellent kit. And there is no alternative source available as you have a monopoly. You should and can be so much better than this.

Don't buy this lol. 40 quid and it just stopped working after a day. On top of that, while it did work, half the apps aren't supported anyway. Apple need to just swallow their pride and give the consumer what they want, FLEXIBILITY. A smart company would allow more experienced 3rd party cable companies to produce this kind of product rather than keeping exclusivity just to charge EXTORTIONATE prices for something that costs 20p to make, and doesn't even work. Poor form apple. poor form.

Doesn't work well at all... Ugly kludge.

    • Written by David G from COLNE

I bought several items of equipment to run a stand showing off iPad apps at a conference.., Monitors, AV brackets, gooseneck stands, HDMI cables etc.

The critical link was lighting AV adapters connecting iPads the delegates play with, to nice HD monitors on the booth wall. Both adapters gave horrible results on big screens. They showed compression artefacts and a generally nasty image. There is absolutely no way the output is 1080!

I don't quite know how Apple has managed it, but it takes many ££££ and turns a lovely crisp retina image into something truly ugly. I switched one over to my old iPad 2 with a 30 pin adapter and got a better image!

Like many other reviewers I paid full whack for this connector, and it just stopped working - annoyingly when the warranty period had expired. Suprisingly shoddy for a company like Apple. Probably better to get an Apple TV.

From my usage, over the past year, almost everything on your iPad will appear on your TV screen, except, BT Sport! They have just changed to the Google Chromecaste adapter. It's still worth buying for all it's other applications!
