WiFi range should be much better

This is a good product in say, an office or open space. We use one at work and have been very happy with it. It's easy to set up and does most of the things that your average user would want (don't buy if you expect advanced options!).

However, the range very quickly drops off if you go to another room or upstairs ie a fairly standard home setup.

I bought this as a home router to replace a BT Home Hub 5 but disappointingly, the (free) BT WiFi range is a lot better than the (rather pricey) Airport Extreme 802.11 AC.

Sorry Apple but I expect better than this!

    Stupid!

The Product Information states "Any Wi-Fi device you have will work with AirPort Extreme". But this is misleading. The most popular broadband provider in the UK is BT Internet. Users are supplied with a Home Hub router. The Airport Extreme cannot connect wirelessly with this router and as it does not have a modem of its own it cannot replace it. The solution is to connect the 2 devices with an Ethernet cable. What is stupid is that the Airport Extreme cannot be used as a WiFi Extender unless a second Apple router is purchased . This makes it pretty useless for home use because most home users do not have their homes wired up with Ethernet cable and do not need 3 routers.
