    Very disappointed

    It was a big struggle getting the AirPods to work both with my MacBook and with my iPhone. After numerous attempts at pairing and resetting the AirPods with both devices I managed to make them work.

    They now work well with my Mac, but are giving me a lot of issues with my iPhone. Every time I want to use them I have to manually connect them from the Bluetooth settings in my iPhone, and the connection is far from perfect: even if my phone is very close to me (e.g in my pocket or in my hand) I hear the audio crackling very often, which is extremely annoying.

    You would expect headphones which are so very expensive to not have all these issues.

    (Both my MacBook Pro and iPhone 6 are running the latest operating systems)

    Stopped working properly after 12 months

    The setup process is easy and connecting to the AirPods is seamless unless you only want to use one then it can be tedious and unreliable. Unfortunately, after 12 months of daily but not intensive use, the sound being produced is now noticeably quieter with one or both of the AirPods disconnecting randomly during use. With apples 12 month warranty and abhorrent repair costs they have essentially become an expensive fashion statement as getting both repaired costs almost as much as a new pair.

    had them for a month then lost them and find my iphone is useless says there offline just because they are in the case. The case should have a gps tracker aswell. great one apple.

    Such a disappointment...

    Owned for just over a year. Only used once or twice a week at most and now the charge barely lasts two hours. Genius Bar can only offer a replacement at a cost of almost a brand new pair of AirPods.

    Not compatible with android phones

    Although able to connect, the volume is capped on on android devices with the airpods so its a struggle to hear anything playing. Would reccimend another brand specifically designed for androids.

    Yes, pairing them up with your iPhone for the first time might be magic, but that's exactly where the magic stops. After that, it is one annoyance after another. Are they not supposed to be a tiny bit "smart"? If so, why do I have to, so often, connect them manually to whatever device I am using? I swap from iPhone to iPad occasionally. Watching a tv series on the iPad is near impossible, it keeps disconnecting, all the while the stupid thing is on my ear, and my iPhone is not being touched. It is soooo annoying. I get out of the car to go for a walk, put them on, wait and wait, and 90% of the time they just won't connect to the iPhone. All in all, a truly frustrating and awful experience. I miss Steve Jobs.

    heavy and painful in ears

    I found them too heavy - like a heavy pebbles stuck in my ears. Unlike the nice, light normal in-ear pods I am used to. The airpods felt unwieldly and uncomfortable. Gave me earache and a headache after a short while, which lasted into the next day. The sound quality was average.

    Not great

    So I had mine for about 2 months and then the left ear piece stopped working. Really annoying as you feel like you are having hearing issues in one ear. It took ages to wait for the replacement from apple while they were in such high demand but I got a new one eventually. 2 months later and the other side has now stopped working.

    When they were 100% they were actually a good product. At the current price, they need to be higher quality. I may buy them again when they make a new improved version but for now I have put them in the bin and gone back to my jabra

    utter waste of money, the pause function works on a "when it can be bothered" basis when you take one of them out and when it does work good luck getting the music started again without going back to your device to either press play or reconnect the airpods themselves! I wouldn't mind but the range should be better than from my wrist to my ears!!!!!!!!!!! also since I got these £159 beauties when people call my iPhone I cant hear them even when nothing is connected to them.

    Complete utter waste of your money - if you are debating purchasing this product I would advise you don’t - the charge is useless, it is way too overpriced, clearly cheap to make and design and they can’t stay in your ears to save your life - very unsatified with my purchase and I hope you don’t make the same mastake

    Buying for a Mac? Think again

    One star may seem harsh for this product but there is a reason - and it's pretty fundamental.

    I got mine to use not just with my iPhone but also my iMac - a recent edition iMac at that.

    At first I was impressed - but then the problems started.

    The primary problem was that when I switched to using the airpods' mic with the Mac the audio was rubbish. A little digging around suggested that when switching to using the airpods' mic it forced the Mac to use a low fidelity codec - and not only that it applied to the listening audio as well as the mic audio. Option-click on the airpods in the blu tooth list confirmed it - it showed the codec being used and it downgraded when using the airpods' mic.

    For me the quality was unacceptable - and I have had resort to either using the built-in Mac mic (which kinda defeats the purpose) or using my old wired apple earphones (which definitely defeats the purpose).

    The other main issue is that for me they did not seamlessly switch from my Mac to my iPhone - I have to manually do that through settings.

    So, for me, it is another apple product that doesn't 'just work'.

    First time I have ever been disappointed with an Apple product

    For me they won't stop in my ears. From a company that can design beautiful tech, the AirPods design is so flawed. This is the first Apple product I have purchased, in the eight years of owning Apple products, that I have been disappointed and needed to return the item.

    They are made of a shiny plastic material, which by nature makes them have no grip at all in the ear canal. Apple need to go back to the drawing board with the design and make the next generation of the AirPods an in ear type.

    The sound quality, I actually think it's on the average side at best. Sound quality of a £20-£30 earphone at best.

    Too be fair, as a product they are excellent, no wires, a convenient carry and charge case. But the main issue is the design. They simply have no customisation to accommodate various sized ear canals. With in ear design earphones, you have a variety of different sized tips and of different materials to size and suit, and also wing tips to provide an even more secure fit.

    Seriously Apple, a really lazy design keeping the five year old EarPod design for the AirPods.

    Maybe the series 2 version of the AirPods will have a redesign (which they seriously need) and if they do I would give them another try.

    Seriously disappointed and flawed. Going back to the shop with these very shortly for a refund.

    Casing Terrible

    The casing was in my pocket for 1 hour as i commuted back from the office to my home. The uncalled headphones are great however when i went to retrieve the box from my pocket it was all scratched and scrapped. However you might think that i had keys or change in my pocket..... i did not as i did not want my brand new purchase to have any chance of damage so it was left alone in my pocket. Outer polished design does not stand up to even the most careful of commutes - got scraped and stuffed on way home in my pocket from external factors - design improvement required.

    Not Seamless At All!

    Sold as seamless connectivity! Not in the slightest! They struggle with connecting to iPads (both of mine) - in fact they don't just struggle - THEY DON'T. Spent 90 mins on the phone to tech support (who don't really know much about the product as it is too new!). For that price you would expect what they do what they say they do on the tin - no chance! Taken straight back for a refund - will wait until they have perfected the design and compatibility! Shame on you APPLE.

    apple building products that still come out of a garage

    i have had these air pods for no less than 2 months, connection does not happen seamlessly nor is it easy to switch from device to device, but after two months was up one of the pods started to stop working and then i was unable to sync them again, in short i now have to wait for apple to collect the broken items then wait about a month for the replacements. i have also seen x-rays of the air pods which show poor workmanship on more than 6 out of ten had air gaps in chip solder which will come unstuck and then die, in short is this device worth 160.00 the answer is NO i would not recommend this product to anybody

    Unreadable print

    I wish Apple would understand that style does not always win over substance. I have just opened the instructions to discover that not only are they written in tiny print but also in pale grey on white. Some of us no longer have the eyes of 28 year-olds so I will need to seek out the help of some youngster to discover how to work them. No stars for the instructions but one is the minimum permitted.

    Was really excited by these, but they aren't reliable, they would drop the connection, or sometimes one earbud would work and the other wouldn't. I personally also felt that they are too big, especially compared to the wired version (yes I know they have to hold a lot more tech, but the way it's been packed in there just doesn't work). A real shame, but I wouldn't recommend anyone buy these until the new version comes out when hopefully Apple will address a lot of the current flaws.
