    Not for me

    • Written by Sally E from PLYMOUTH

I’ve had these AirPods for a year and sound is excellent but that’s as far as it goes. The tapping of the earphones to control them in different ways was not easy for me as I have a tremor. I used them occasionally for the gym and some how moisture has entered one of them and as a result it has corroded the battery, hence now it is useless and I feel a bit grieved as I haven’t used them very much within this time. So gym bunnies beware.

Reasonable solution to a difficult problem but could have been better

    • Written by Colin L from Edinburgh

There is no perfect headphone solution with different approaches working in different situations. You will probably need a different solution for running or the gym than for sitting at your desk or on a flight. These are a good effort for a jack of all trades headphone solution that works well in most situations.

    Sound quality is good enough.
The earphones don't create a seal in the ear canal and as a result work well when walking or moving about and avoids the issues which other snug fitting or tight over ear models create.
They stay in my ears pretty well - they've fallen the ground about 3 times over the past year (and survived)
The charging case keeps them nice and tidy when not in use and better than the tangled cable of old

When they fall out they fall to the ground and can get lost. I don't feel confident wearing them when doing the dishes or when exercising or even on flights.
I'm frequently on long conference calls and whilst it is great to go wireless they run out of charge after under two hours.
The connection to devices is surprisingly slow and the process of switching devices is a pain - compare for example to Bose Quiet Comfort 35 which connect instantly and can maintain 2 connections at once.
The bluetooth connection isn't 100% reliable

Overall I wouldn't purchase them again and find myself frequently reaching for old wired earbuds in a number of situations.

Good bit of kit, just overpriced

    • Written by Ethan M from Saltburn

I have had them for almost a year and I love them, but let's face it - they're just bluetooth headphones. This isn't anything new and I would say they are worth £70 tops!

    iPhone 10/10 - Macbook 0/10

    • Written by James P from nottingham

With the iPhone and iPad, these work perfectly, every time. I have never had a lapse in connection, or any issues whatsoever. The audio quality has improved a touch from their wired counterparts, the battery life is incredible and the customisable double tap function on each ear is a fantastic feature.

The issues arise when you want to use these with macOS. Whereas switching between IOS devices with these is a breeze, transferring between IOS and macOS is absolutely atrocious. Every time you try to connect the AirPods, the process has to be completed manually, and many of these attempts fail, this followed by sporadic disconnections make the whole process a pain.

This is made even more frustrating as I have the 2018 MBP which I cannot plug my lightning headphones into and my AirPods are half useless with. (I refuse to carry around two sets of headphones out of stubbornness.)

I highly recommend these for IOS users. But if you're hoping to use these with your Mac, I would hold out until either the software is updated to be as fluent as IOS or spend your money on a good pair of wired headphones and save yourself the hassle.

    Disappointed by the hardware quality

    • Written by jaco L from London

After unboxed the AirPod notice that the lid was really loose could be moved from left to right, got it replaced straight away. The second one was better but still has the same issue. And inside the AirPod case was kind of dirty. It doesn’t seem like a new product to me at all. Really disappointed, was expecting something better then this. However the sound quality isn’t that bad

Much better than expected - but BAD APPLE for selling pre-used as new!

    • Written by James W from BRIGHTON

Bought these primarily for running and listening to podcasts when nodding off in bed. They perform much better than expected and the lack of wires is so much more of a benefit than you imagine. My only big gripe is that when running they don't stay in. I tried a silicon lead from Amazon which doesn't really help as the movement of the lead when running tugs them out of your ears still.

I then bought some silicon attachments that go over the buds. They now work perfectly when running. The only snag is having to slip them on and off to put them back in the case. Two suggestions for improvements would be volume control by touch, and a large case to cater to silicon bud attachments. A more discreet colour would also be good, because lets face it, you look a bit of a tool wearing these.

One particularly good thing is how seamless it works with Apple watch (ie volume). Mic is also v good for calls.

I would have given these five stars but for the need for silicon bud covers, and also the fact that the first pair I got were clearly very well used. The case had lots of micro scratches on it. It's disappointing that Apple is selling supposedly new, boxed and wrapped products that have clearly already had quite a bit of use. I expect that from an in warranty phone replacement, but certainly not for a first purchase. So first pair went back straight away.

    Not for cardio

    • Written by Dave M from Gorebridge

Initially quite please with purchase. Easy to set up and change function of left and right pod
However intended use was when working out and this is why 3 stars. Even running at a warm up speed of ten k an hour constantly needing placed in position. Was so frustrating next session had to take them out especially running at a slightly higher speed.
Happy with sound quality and the double tap works fine.
Shame won’t stay in when running as main reason for buying..
perhaps as previous reviews state, this could be individual as some users don’t seem to have the same issues.

Works flawlessly for my iPhone, but has problems with my Mac Book

    • Written by Mike W from Ruislip

On my iPhone it connects flawlessly and the sound quality is really good (nice warm bass and the tops is not over powering). But, when using on my Mac Book, the connection is really bad, the sound stutters.

I really want to give them a 5/5 rating, but as its meant to work between different devices, it just does not.

I am keeping them as I mainly use them on my iPhone and really happy with them. But, Apple you need to sort this out.

    Although nicely designed.....

    • Written by Anthony W from Gateshead

.....they're not worth the price tag!
I bought these a good few months ago when my local Apple Stores eventually started to stock them and although i was really impressed by the sound quality, they lack any sort of noise cancellation so anything louder than general chatter and your music is drowned out.
The batteries in both the AirPods and Case last quite a long time so that's a plus.

The only thing that's making me keep them is the fact they're truly wireless. I had Bose SoundSport before and hated the wire across the back of the neck; these eliminate that problem altogether.
Contrary to popular belief, they do not just fall out of your ears either, even when running.

    Good But...

    • Written by Siân G from Macclessfield

These are a great product and they have very smart technology buy for an £159 product, you would hope that they wouldn't be so easy to lose. I lost one of mine and they were still under-waranty but Apple didn't give me a refund or another AirPod! I am very dissapointed in Apple for that but they are very good!

    Sports and airpods

    • Written by Allen M from PLYMOUTH

I have the apple watch sport nikki as I do a lot of running. The airpods are great with apple phone but once I'm away from wifi or just using my watch I am unable to use siri to forward or replay music. Also the apple fitness doesn't communicate so when running I no longer hear distance calls or timer beeps. For the price there are a lot of issues which need sorted before there as good as claimed. My Jabra headphones are far cheaper and everything works.
