    Mushy keys

Tried in-store. The keys feel terrible, very mushy. Though I have to say, it clicks very nicely onto the iPad itself. Just unfortunate that it really feels awful to type on.

    So Unreliable. So Fed Up.

Two pros in the family which work great. I’m now onto my fourth keyboard in 2 years - yes fourth! One replaced under warranty didn’t work at the get go, so went straight back. My wife users her iPad a lot less than my daily use - her keyboard has now failed too, so having to buy a replacement at £169 - ouch. Out of warranty! Same symptoms, accessory not supported for a while, then complete refusal. Like other reviewer comments, this is just not good enough Apple. When are you going to admit to this - other than quietly doubling the warranty to 2 years but only if your client happens to know that. Or, more important, update the xxxx thing. If you do, make the serial number on the back legible!!

    Broke

Like a lot of other people here this started to fail after the guarantee ran out. And now it’s simply doesn’t work anymore. So for the money, the quality is just not acceptable

Amazed it has not been recalled

It was great when I first got it but in about 7-8 months it has almost stopped working entirely. I use my iPad for school notes and I cant keep up with the class if I have to spend 5 minutes trying to get my keyboard to respond. It wouldn’t be so bad if the keyboard was about a third of the price but for the money apple ask for the Smart Keyboard it simply isn’t good enough. So many people seem to be having similar issues, I’m amazed that there hasn’t been a recall for these keyboards as their low quality and lack of durability make a mockery of the apple brand and insult it’s customers

    The faulty connections message fix.

I have had the keyboard for just about one year and I’m getting a message saying accessory not supported. To all with this problem disconnect the iPad completely from the keyboard blow any dust of the side near the connections. (This issue is more common in the summer as the keyboard doesn’t cope with the heat very well) Then at an angle face down, push to the magnetic bar until it magnetically connects. Then tilt upright and it should work like usual.

Keyboard doesn't consistently connect with the iPad

I bought this to serve as a more practical solution for typing on the move i.e. it would be both portable, lightweight, convenient and easy-to-use. Unfortunately the keyboard does not form a consistent connection with the iPad - the three pins that magnetically connect to the side of the iPad appear to be misaligned, meaning I have to manually slide the keyboard left and right in order to get it to work. This is a constant frustration and given the high price-point, was surprisingly poor. I did contact Apple Support and they offered me a replacement keyboard - which suffered from exactly the same problem. Given the vast number of people that have complained online, I'm surprised that Apple haven't done anything to resolve the issue. The keyboard works great when the connection is stable, but I shouldn't have to realign the connectors every time I want to use it.

    Poor value

I’ve had two: both have stopped working after a year (this accessory is not supported... becomes a constant pop up). Given the price this represents very poor value.

Was excellent for about 2 years then started to fail due to connection problems. Short life.

    Poor value for money

This keyboard began failing just after warranty ran out and now wont connect at all. Far too expensive to be a 'disposable' item after 18 months.

    Completely disappointed

I got talked into buying one of these from 02 when buying the iPad Pro 12.9
When it arrived I was quite impressed but this quickly changed, it’s got so many faults , the fact it doesn’t cover the back of the iPad is a bad design so you have to buy another case to go with it, the thing falls off every two minutes when moving it and the keyboard bearly works without taking it off and putting back on again, when watching tv it’s hard to get the screen to sit at the right level it’s always tilted back to far and needs something wedging in the case to sit upright more, for 169.00 this a rip off and not worth the money . Apple I love your products but this one is bad in so many ways , to be honest I only have one good thing to say about it and that’s the fact it didn’t need extra power and worked off the iPad which means zero messing around.
If anyone is reading this thinking about buying it DONT save your cash and buy a better version online, unless apple do an updated version in the future.

    Not well thought out ...

It seems to me that Apple launches a product and somewhere along the customer journey they seem to miss out on how the customer will actually use the product. The case is clumsy and toppled over very easily if you are using it to just view the screen. There is nowhere to keep the pencil which has now become redundant as I dislike carrying separate pens. Other alternative cases seem to be able to carry the pencil but you cannot attach the keyboard. Others will catch up ... Apple must remain true to one of its core values ... customer first.

    ‘This accessory not supported’

A great product that does make the iPad more sturdy.
Unfortunately, my keyboard failed after casual use which is not what you expect from an Apple product so very disappointing.

    Very Poor Quality and Unreliable

I have now had two keyboards fail within two years with only light business use. The keyboard is once again ‘not recognised’ by my iPad Pro; a repeat problem that left me high and dry on a two-day work trip. The cost of this accessory is obscene for the quality, and has proven that my intention to use an iPad Pro as a secondary ‘laptop’ for short trips was too optimistic. This simply isn’t good enough Apple!

Good while it lasted.. two failed now, C'mon apple...do the right thing

These keyboards are very good when they work albeit with an eye-watering price tag that could buy you a shiny new laptop elsewhere... the problem starts when you use them everyday... two consecutive keyboard failures now and radio silence when suggesting that for £170 they should cope with daily use and they just can't .... the suggestion that my failures are unusual is a little patronising given that number of them failing.... Apple, I have more than one of just about everything product your sell and love you but please please come clean on this, fix this problem proactively, and look after your presently loyal clientele! I'm off to buy my third one as the second one consecutively failed just out of warranty.. iPad 2yrs and a few months old....three smart keyboards so far.... and counting!

    Expensive for something that fails..

Great for the first few weeks. Now it refuses to connect or fails completely - would of expected more from apple - looks good but a total waste of money - doesn't last & now can't be used... disappointing..

    Fine and reliable keyboard

A little expensive but I've found it worth it. Used for work almost every day for nearly two years. Starting to show a little wear but no where near as much as I expected by now. Mine is first generation US layout but no worries. Easy to type with and adds little to no weight to the iPad. I've been well happy with it.

    Rubbish

Keyboard stops working in a very short period of time, and because of this faultiness, the actual inbuilt keyboard on the system of the iPad stops working and it doesn"t seem to pop up. Waste of money.

Very poor quality for the price

For an Apple product this is very sub standard, mine started to fail just out of warranty and now intermittently disconnects or refuses to connect as well as displaying the "this accessory is not supported" message. I'm not alone there are hundreds of people experiencing the same fault on Apples support communities site. £169 for something that can barely last a year is very poor indeed.
