    Awful, just awful!

    • Written by Phil A from Heywood

I read all the reviews before purchasing and I was genuinely undecided, then I read one review that suggested I ignore all the haters... I'd of rather spent £200 on hot air if I am honest. Awful product, to spend circa £1000 on an iPad Pro to then purchase a Pencil for £120 - fine, that's Apple, but the additional for a keyboard that is like everyone says, ugly in its fit, feel and design - a complete failure in my eyes.

I suppose you have the convenience of the keyboard being a part of the case but most of the time I carry a rucksack or bag so in all honesty, I would buy a wireless keyboard - there are plenty that fold or roll up - you'll get a better result.

And to be fair, I mainly use this for design and drawing rather than typing and can do the minimal required via the keyboard on the pad, which we must have all gotten used to by now.

Overall, it's a pants product and I sometimes wish I could stand in the store all day and advise people not to buy it.

Offers no protection for the iPad. Uncomfortable to hold. I bought a cheap alternative whilst waiting for this to arrive for under £20 and it’s more protective and has a space to safely store, and charge pen. This relies solidly on magnet, which won’t work in the modern world. I truly think this is the worst design apple have ever produced. Shocked actually. Do not waste your money. Buy a wireless keyboard and a more protective cover.

    Unreliable keyboard probably unnecessary

    • Written by Greg G from Buckhurst Hill

Apple's non-folio "smart" keyboards fail after quite a short life - 6 months to 2 years judging by reports and my own experience. There is no good reason to expect the "folio" version to perform any better so buy at your own risk.

It's also worth trying your iPad Pro without; I find the on-screen keyboard to be so much better than the one on smaller tablets that I haven't really missed the physical keyboard since it failed.

I have had several iPads and the last 2 iPad Pros, for which have used the Apple Smart Keyboard. In the previous version, it didn’t cover the back of the iPad, which the newest one does. I used this extensively and it worked really rather well, was actually a very nice product. That isn’t what I am finding with this keyboard/case! I find that it has a cheap feel in comparison to the prior keyboard/cover. What is most concerning is that the design makes it hard to remove the iPad from the magnetic attachment above the keyboard. When it comes up, ( as you actually grab the iPad in an area closest to the attachment where the case doesn’t cover) it has needed such force that when it gives way the iPad can fall out of the case. I have needed to replace the iPad already as it fell and the screen broke I was recently chatting with someone on FaceTime showing them some work done in my house when once again trying to adjust whilst moving it came completely out of the case and fell down the stairs! Fortunately this time the iPad screen didn’t break! I am very unhappy with this design and product overall...looking for a replacement!!

    Disappointing for £199

For such an expensive keyboard would have expecting better casing (are you meant to buy a hard case as well?) and somewhere for the pencil? Doesn’t really work for an all in one case/keyboard

Basic keyboard at a ridiculous price

    • Written by Todd D from Preston

Apple are again pushing their loyal customers to the limit.
They really are selling a basic keyboard/case for £199 !
It’s not backlit at all, has no shortcut keys like the Logitech one did for the 1st & 2nd gen iPad pro’s.
The Ipad pro itself is ridiculously supplied with a 1m cable, which is absolutely inadequate.
This keyboard is so overpriced & so not worth it........
Save your money until a third party company brings out a keyboard that does the job much better & for nearer half the price.
Shame on you Apple you are pushing us all away.

The worst Apple product currently available, sorry Apple!

    • Written by Ian F from Ashbourne

I have to say I am a big Apple fan and have spent more than an average user on Apple products because they are so good. So this is a review from an Apple fan and loyal customer. So I was looking forward to getting the smart keyboard after such a long lead time and after hearing how special it would be during the keynote. Now it has arrived I am so disappointed and I will be returning it. As many reviews will say the clicking together of iPad and case are fine, but just that, fine. Yes it needs a backlight too. The feel however, is very plastic, very cheap Chinese plastic. It is bad, really bad, the edges around the keyboard are sharp and feel really cheap. It feels like something you would buy on eBay for £9.99 and then send back. It’s like the old cases you would get, hardboard covered in plastic with edges sealing it all If you are considering this keyboard go and see on in the flesh first and ask yourself is this really worth paying for. My last iPad Pro keyboard was Logitech, I shall be hoping their new keyboard comes on sale soon. I love you Apple but you dropped the all on this one.

    Good but very un-Apple

    • Written by Sigmund J from london

After spending so much money on the new iPad Pro it's horrible to put something on this device that feels so cheap. The keyboard is functional but to have to feel the keys when in a normal browsing orientation feels so very un-Apple. Also it feels like an oversight not to have function keys on an accessory for a 'pro' device. Please, please, please create a superior keyboard folio for the professionals you marketed the new iPad to.
