    Rather good overall....

    • Written by Daniel G from Macclesfield

I bought the keyboard at the same time as purchasing the 2018 iPad Pro when it launched, so I’ve had plenty of time to form an opinion. Incidentally, I also bought the pencil. I was impressed with the features it offered, and pleased to see it afforded protection for the back of the device too. And without adding much thickness - especially compared to a lot of third party ones. The iPad Pro remains highly portable and convenient to take with you everywhere. The typing experience took a few days of heavier use to acclimatise and the keys become much better with time as they wear in. I must admit that I rather winced at the price, considering that you can easily spend more than on a MacBook in the end! I think £149 would be more reasonable, or a discount when purchasing alongside the iPad. It would also be nice to have backlit keys and possibly a choice of colours and materials. Apart from the negatives above, and the not insignificant weight it adds, its a great piece of kit. In point of fact I’m beginning to use my MacBook Pro less and less.

It comes down to personal taste

    • Written by Gina H from London

I read all the reviews and went into the Apple store thinking ‘I’m never buying one of those’, but honestly I think your relationship to this product is down to your personal taste. For me, I love this keyboard! The helpful Apple in store elf allowed me to try several keyboard products with my new iPad Pro 12.9” and this one was by far the superior option. It is made for the iPad so everything clicks, magnetises and fits perfectly. It’s very streamlined. In comparison, the other options from different sellers were bulkier or just felt wrong. This one feels reassuringly strong and it’s incredibly light. No backlighting, but it’s not something I need so, again, it works for me. Looking at the keyboard in sunlight it seems to have a kind of ‘woven’ texture to the plastic which I guess is how they make it both light and strong. My only grumble is that when you fold the keyboard behind the iPad to write with the Apple Pencil, it’s a bit disturbing to the fingers because you feel the keyboard buttons and this provides a bumpy surface and slightly distracts from my experience of an otherwise smooth product. However, this doesn’t mess with the performance of the machine (the buttons don’t engage in this position) so it’s a small price to pay for a product that is superior, seamless and gives the iPad protection and immediate efficiency on the go. Price? It’s Apple. I just live with it. My advice is: go to the store, if you can, and try it out before you buy it. You’re either going to love it or hate it - and I love mine!

An excellent If somewhat expensive product

    • Written by Gerald L from Pontefract

I bought the Keyboard Folio as I needed immediate protection for my iPad. As a case I love it, whether balancing on one’s knee for typing or positioned on the bed or other soft surfaces to watch movies it’s ideal. The perfect package for me would be the Keyboard Folio without the keyboard as the design is far superior to that of the Folio which offers little stability on soft surfaces due to the narrowness of the stand but unfortunately that’s not an option. So for me it was a little expensive as I only occasionally use the keyboard as the screen keyboard on the 12.9-inch iPad is so good. Having said that I don’t regret the purchase and to be honest any third party Folio will have to go some to encourage me to change from what is an excellent product.

    Exactly what I wanted (almost)!

    • Written by Alexandra N from Tulsa

I’m not sure why there are so many harsh reviews of this case. The only reason I gave it 4/5 stars is because the keys aren’t backlit, which is testing my typing skills, and I don’t understand why it’s so expensive. The case itself is sturdy, doesn’t add bulk, protective, and the keyboard itself is easy to use thanks to the keys being raised. The bottom of the case and the keyboard itself is hard plastic so you can easily balance the case on your lap and type while reclining on a sofa or in bed or wherever. I don’t have any real issues with this case and contrary to what I’ve read about its being cheap-looking and feeling or the magnets aren’t functioning properly or the iPad will slip out of the case, I disagree. My advice: don’t manhandle your iPad or the case and you’ll see that this case works perfectly well!
