Almost three years and no problems

I bought this to replace an Airport Express in 2014 and so far so good. No problems whatsoever. No dead spots in my 2 story bungalow, although signal is not that strong outside. Still a good product.

    it does just work

I had previously bought a nether and a linksys router. Both died after just over a year. I am now going on my 3rd year with the AirPort TC and it is still going great. Coverage is, not great. As with all routers placement is key. Thats one advantage of this device. Its compact enough and looks good enough that you don't have the need to hide it off in a closet.

The TC portion does work good. The HD speed is a bit slow so data recovery is not real fast, but haven't everything built into my device is good. As with all HD, you quickly realize that you probably need a larger HD and its not easy to replace in the TC, though you can plug a USB HD into the back, but then speed is even slower.

The device is pricey for what you it appears you are getting, but I am very happy with it and would buy again (though probably not with the TC portion and just use my own HD).

Great Router - Range is terrific

Our home is about 4K sq ft...perfect range throughout!!! This even gives a nice signal around the perimeter of our home! Very impressed.

    Nothing compares

I have tried many wireless routers and nothing compares to the time capsule. Amazingly easy setup, outstanding reliability, and if that isn't enough it also backs up you're Mac automatically everyday. Is it a little pricey? Yes. I'd pay double the price to not deal with the headache of other routers that have to be unplugged and reset constantly. Another amazing product by Apple!!!!

    A Winner

I must say I was a bit hesitant on this after reading the reviews, but it sure is a hit with me. My late husband had built a complicated network that I could not get into with 4 different servers. When he passed and I had to unhook what he had built I had a mess on my hands. I received this yesterday, unpacked it, turned it on and now the three main apple computers in the house are completely backed up and runnning and all of my devices are purring right along as well. I was even able to get into the Apple TV which was wonderful as I had not been able to access it at all. So, I am a happy camper and my backups are all completed. PLUS it is tons faster than my Netgear modem ever thought of being.

    Thanks Apple!

Newer should be better, faster, stronger??

I had the older flat square Airport Extreme w/no hard drive for storage & that was great, no issues, never a problem, great connection & reception strength always full bars on all devices. I live in a 2 story condo which isn't very large, normal size 1300 square feet & the old Extreme handled it beautifully.

This newer version although works fine I thought I'd have this killer speed boost & performance would just be off the charts!!?? But uhh no, not any better in fact sometimes worst than the old version. Youtube videos are a great tester & on my Apple TV & MBP w/touchbar the video's load somewhat slower than I thought, still the spinning wheel??

    I was expecting much better

    JUNK!

Must power cycle every couple of days, time capsule keeps asking me to create a new back up again and again, which takes several hours, and “beamforming antenna array” is just a marketing phrase that provides no improvement in performance. Love Apple products but this one is a HUGE miss!

Turns itself off while you're using it.

I constant walk to the router to start it up again.

Good for 20 feet of wifi, beyond that not so good.

    Storage is more than adequate.

Easy to recovery lost photos , documents. etc.

    Outstanding Product

I live in a building that has a lot of disturbance. Upgrading to this router solved the issues of spotty service that I was having with a Netgear router. Configuration was performed using my Phone 5S. My pings are now consistent and never get any timeouts. Love it!

    Awesome Device

I absolutely love my AirPort Time Capsule...not only is it my sole backup device for my MBP, MBA, and iPad but it's also my high-speed router at at over 200 mbps. It came in particularly useful when my MBP crashed ~ a year ago and I used it to provide the full restore when the OS had to be reinstalled. The price is excellent and I've had no issues with the device since I purchased it three years ago in 2014. I can't say enough good things about it...it just continues to back up all of my devices and provides wireless internet to my devices as well as my 70" Samsung 4K smart TV. I'm not sure what's behind some of the questionable reviews, but all I can do is share my wonderful experience with my ATC.

    Airport Time Capsule

Hi I like the concept but the product does not work as advertised. I can't do any backups anymore. The system wants to overwrite the existing backups. Apple's support response is buy a "USB" hard drive and use it for backups. That this issue would be fixed in the next OS upgrade. Two years later and the same story. Save you money if you want a router not an automated backup system.

    Not functional

As a router it is very good. As a storage device - backup for laptops, mac mini, etc. good. Not good for backups of mobile devices. Mobile devices only sync to iTunes on laptop or Mac. Process of creating shortcuts or extensions to a location on the network on the Timecapsule is futile since the links go bad and are later unrecognized. Constantly corrupts those backup files for mobile devices - iPad and iPhone. Home sharing music from here is ridiculous process: laptop must be on somewhere in the home synced to this music library. Only then can Apple TV find the music library in my computers. It can't just find the library as the Timecapsule can't complete the function of home sharing the library itself. Previous mac minis could be converted to TimeCapsules....think Apple should consider merging/consolidating the time capsule/router/apple TV all into one device with better gaming function. iTunes should sync to this again when back on your "homenetwork" on all devices. It should allow for the personal home cloud and their apple cloud to work seamlessly.

Great Router, Love the Extra Features.

I actually purchased both an Airport Express, and the Airport time Capsule, and couldn't be happier. I put the Express down stairs and the Time Capsule in my room to extend the Wi-fi network upstairs. It has worked flawlessly so far, and the speed upstairs is a big plus. Time Machine works great on my new Macbook Pro, but the biggest selling point for me was the USB port on the back of the Time Capsule. I reformated an old WD 1 Tb drive I had for my old PC and plugged it into the back of the Time Capsule. I love being able to upload files from my two Macs or my Moms PC to the drive over my Wi-fi network, It's like my households own personal Cloud. Would highly recomnmend to anyone on the market. Thumbs up Apple.

    Avoid - worst apple product

Not easily compatible with service providers and the $300 one I bought less than two years ago is now a giant paperweight. Apple doesn't repair so the only option they offer is to buy a new one. No thanks. Do yourself a favor and save $200 buying something that will work for years, not months.

I would not repeat. Lack of Windows support since 2015 with last firmware.

5GHz/2.4GHz Wifi Coverage is not so good... I have the same or even better wifi coverage with some cheap branded wifi equipment (about 40€).
I would say it's the worst product I've never seen from Apple... but it's not true, because I really think MAC PRO LATE 2013 is even worse.
Apple has decided to stop supporting driver control from Windows, so if you sell your MAC (let's say, for example, this piece of metal called MAC PRO LATE 2013) then you will probably have no way to control your Airport from Windows since they stopped support with last firmware (7.7.8)

For sure... I would not repeat with Airport neither with MAC PRO LATE 2013.

    Easy setup - and reliable

I have used Apples Time Capsule for now many years in an extended network. Wanted to replace my first model recently, even if it still works flawlessly. But I needed a bigger harddrive, and replacing the capsule was no sweat at all. Hope that Apple will continue to develop and produce capsules and routers.

    It works for me

I have had this tallish white tower sitting by our Mac for a year and a half. We are average users in ComputerLand and run a Roku . I have had nothing but great performance from our Apple device. It performs backup to the Mac just as scheduled and Wi-Fi signal is strong though out our 1500 Sq Ft home. The ease of setting up the network was amazing. I have a friend who this past weekend attempted to install a new Wi-Fi device and has yet to get it to work properly...I just don't get it. Apparently it is not as easy as the AirPort. We haven't had any of the issues mentioned in the reviews, just flawless performance. And on top of all that, it looks pretty cool too.

Everything has worked great for me so far and I've had it for about a year. The backups work and the router works.

Great router, cosmetically my wife approves

I bought this to extend my network. FiOS router was in the basement and my wife was complaining about slow internet and her iPad2 dropping signal all of the time.

I plugged in the router to the data port in a upstairs bedroom. Make sure to choose 'create network' using the same SSID, security settings, and password. It's fast. I knew it was going to be better but was surprised on the difference it made. I set up Time Machine on my MBP. It all worked seamlessly with very little set up.

Bonus: This is cosmetically the best looking router. My wife approves and it almost could pass as some sort of white vase or canister. Now I don't have to hide in some cabinet.
