    Works fine, but....

    • Written by Timothy M from Laguna Beach

Was reading about the issues with this mount. I was worried to remove mine so I set up a genius appointment at my local Apple store. I asked them to remove it because I was worried that it might break. They refused to touch it and referred me to a third party authorized repair place to do it (MicroCenter), Who also refused to work on it.

Apple will not stand by this product even if you have AppleCare so I would suggest that you don't buy it. If you have to, don't use the included hardware, buy some stainless steel fasteners.

Luckily I was able to remove it myself without issues.. but if Apple won't even work on their own product then why should we be allowed to install it ourselves and then be worried if we just attached something that we may not be able to remove? The manual clearly states that this mount can be installed and uninstalled by the end user.

    Buyer Beware!

This kit was the worst purchase of my life! EVERY SINGLE TIME I tried to take the mount off, a least one of the skrews included would break. I have had this replaced by the Apple Store like 7 times and EVERY SINGLE TIME a skrews breaks when I try to take the skrews off. AVOID THIS! If you need to use a VESA mount for your iMac Pro, I suggest you go to the hardware store to buy better skrews of the same type.

This kit is a complete joke, the screws are made of very soft metal, break off like jelly. Anyone buying this will be in for a wild ride of trips to and from the Apple Store!

The included screws are made of a very soft metal

In order to receive technical support for my iMac Pro at an Apple Store I needed to remove the VESA mount and put on the original stand. When taking off and putting on the VESA mount I realized how soft the metal screws actually are they have started to strip despite only tightening them lightly. I may need to buy a second mount in order to get replacement screws. Be very careful installing and uninstalling this mount as these screws are highly problematic!

The "fasteners" [it won't let me say the word which rhymes with brews] included with this kit are awful and you should not use them when installing the mount. Get another set of stainless steel Torx TR10 "fasteners" from a hardware store. The included ones are a cheap zinc material where the heads break off from the "fastener" body super easily. When this happens, you'll never get the adapter off. I took mine to the Apple Store which took two weeks to fix it under warranty. When I got it back, one of the "fasteners" they installed also broke and I couldn't get it off! If you install this with the stock screws, don't plan to ever be able to remove it. It's a joke.
