      The verdict is still out

My first impression is that I love the Apple Pencil 2, easy to pair, goes into low power mode when not in use. It is the best stylus I have ever used for creating artwork digitally (I actually like it more than my Wacom tablet!). I do have some questions I need to get answered before I can give it the 5 stars I want to give it. Can this device be be charged any other way besides sticking it to the iPad? OR has anyone made an iPad case/cover that will actually protect the edges, the most vulnerable part of the iPad while allowing for the Pencil to charge? The Apple Smart Folio seems to expose the edges of the iPad which is great for charging the pencil, but one accidental drop and I fear that the lovely screen will crack. I would really prefer a TPR back cover case that protects the edges but would have a section that would allow for the pencil to charge. I certainly do not want a case that has to be removed to charge the pencil. The only other change I would have liked is to have the pencil flat on 6 sides like a typical pencil.

      Ultimate

This is the BEST stylus I have ever used. I came to the event in October 2018 and got my hands on it. Thanks

One drop and it was done.

I liked it at first, but just seemed to be a skinny stylus. I dropped it once and the tip flattened as a result- causing it to no longer work at all. Wasn’t what I expected.

I gave it to my daughter when I upgraded my iPad and had to get the second generation pencil as it’s the only option. It doesn’t consistently write. Sometimes it doesn’t write at all or it skips while writing. It’s very frustrating and it’s even more frustrating that I’m out of the return window. I would not waste my money on this if I were you.

      Annoying limitations

On the iPad Pro 12.9 (3rd gen), it doesn’t work on the hidden taskbar (dock) at the bottom of the screen, to swipe up to see all open apps, or the control panel On the iPad Pro 12.9 (3rd gen), it doesn’t work on the hidden taskbar (dock) at the bottom of the screen, to swipe up to see all open apps, or the control panel that you swipe down from the upper right side of the screen to access. I’m not sure why these features aren’t compatible with the pencil, but it’s annoying. I was hoping to not have to touch the screen, but this makes it impossible to not touch it since you have to touch to close out multiple apps or switch between them. I haven’t had any issues with the magnet or pairing.
