Buy this for the X-Session Pro controller, it's a great product

You're getting a midi controller, folks, not an audio interface... professional DJ solutions cost a lot more than this, be informed about what you're buying and read the manuals beforehand. This previously didn't even come with the Torq software- I was surprised to find this MixLab package was available, and that's why I bought it from Apple. I've been playing with this for some weeks now, and I'm quite impressed with it, especially using the X-Session Pro hardware with professional DJ software and interface... the Torq software isn't as responsive as other pro DJ software like Traktor DJ Studio, but I love the X-Session Pro controller this package comes with. The knobs and faders are well crafted, and I'm particularly impressed with the crossfader so far, it's glider smooth, responsive, and has taken some abuse without a hitch. The controller is not cheaply made like other reviews have said. This can be used as a controller for music production software as well, and most people don't know that you can save and load up to 10 sets of midi commands for controlling other software using the Enigma editor available on the M-Audio website. This is a good complement for pro software like Traktor DJ Studio using a pro interface like the M-Audio Conectiv. This package with the Torq LE software is great for teaching the basic skills of DJing and awesome for those who actually want to learn to beatmatch without buying turntables or CD decks. You really can't ask for anything more from this product for the money, this is an excellent buy. I highly recommend it for beginners and professionals alike. …

This Product is Great...........But what M-Audio doesn't tell you
M-Audio doesn't tell you....you need a separate audio output device via USB or Firewire with (Multiple Line/Channel Outputs) with M-Audio doesn't tell you....you need a separate audio output device via USB or Firewire with (Multiple Line/Channel Outputs) with 2 outputs not 1. Other than that the control interface feels good to use. …

Not as I expected it to be.

I thought I had finally found something that would give me the ability to mix without tables and to tell you the truth, the concept is great and I am sure it can work.
The problem is, I have an iMac, which has only one port for sound output, on the back side and when plugging the headphones, it automatically turns the onboard sound off.
The M-Audio software is supposed to take care of the cue ability but does not. I have been spinning for around13 years and I have never seen a mixer with out a phones jack, which happens to be the case here.
There is no possible way to fix this, that I know of and I even tried it on a windows box and got the same results. I am $100 disappointed and suprised that this is being sold at all. …

This is awesome
I bought this a while ago and was disappointed that if I wanted to monitor with headphones it would only work in mono, then I had I bought this a while ago and was disappointed that if I wanted to monitor with headphones it would only work in mono, then I had a revelation ... by using OS-X's Audio-Midi setup to create an aggregate device I could use the headphone socket on the mac to monitor, and the output from just about any other USB audio device to go to the amplifier - BRILLIANT!! …

Perfect in so many ways!!!
I purchased this product in 2007 for $99 to learn how to do basic mixing and get my feet wet with 'real' DJing.
I am currentl I purchased this product in 2007 for $99 to learn how to do basic mixing and get my feet wet with 'real' DJing.
I am currently a resident DJ for a large nightclub and I DJ various corporate and holiday parties in my area and still use this product for EVERY gig!
What some of these reviewers fail to understand is that you WILL need the y adapter to do true cueing with this product, but I bought my adapter and headphone adapters for less than $10 total. BUT, the need for this adapter is stated on this products box AND on the Torq website. Granted, this is a piece of plastic equipment, but if you expect true 'professional' quality equipment you won't find it at this price point. I have upgraded to the Torq Conectiv in order to increase sound quality and have true headphone cueing capabilities.
In the end, this product never claims to be something it isn't and not only is it great for learning the basic concepts, but it is a reliable MIDI controller that will provide years of use for a true gigging DJ.
