  • Overview

Made for the storyteller in you, the DJI OSMO Mobile 2 Gimbal for iPhone is a handheld stabilizer that works with the DJI GO app to turn your iPhone into a smart motion camera. It makes everything you shoot look smooth, professional, and ready to share. OSMO Mobile 2 automatically tracks your subject, captures stunning motion timelapses, or even streams a moment live around the globe. It also offers the freedom of a lighter design, more intelligent functions, and a longer-lasting battery.

    Be in the moment

ActiveTrack technology built into the DJI GO app allows the OSMO Mobile to automatically keep your iPhone facing you as you move. You no longer have to choose between recording a moment or taking part in it.

    Effortlessly smooth video

If you've ever walked around while shooting video with your iPhone, you'll know how hard it is to keep your camera still. OSMO Mobile smooths and even cancels out the movements you make, stopping camera shake and turning every shot into cinematic video.

    Time in motion

Turn everyday situations into memorable moments with Timelapse. Shoot blooming flowers and rolling clouds, recording all their movements in a stable shot. For an even more dynamic effect, Motion Timelapse lets you move with the camera while creating equally smooth video.

    Cinematic zoom control

For aspiring filmmakers, a new built-in zoom slider lets you completely operate your iPhone camera from the handle with more fluid, cinematic zoom. You can even produce dolly zoom—a visual effect that only professional film sets could produce.

Reveal a bigger world with panoramas

Relive breathtaking landscapes with high-definition panoramas. The Osmo Mobile 2 moves automatically to capture multiple photos then stitches them together to create a seamless image. You can also set your iPhone camera to Landscape or Portrait mode, giving you ideal options for every picture.

    All-new portrait mode

The Osmo 2 Mobile now allows you to mount your iPhone in Portrait mode. As the default orientation for live streaming apps, Portrait mode also helps you take landscape panoramas and supports all shooting modes and functions.

Designed for hours of live streaming

Go live with up to 15 hours of battery life. The Osmo Mobile 2 can also charge your iPhone for hours of streaming.

Giving it a 3 star because of lack of support for 4k@60

I feel like this is a huge oversight that should have been updated in the DJI Go app prior or along side the release of this product. The iPhone X has been in the wild for enough time for DJI to develop for this and at this time I consider this to be a non-starter for this product. So much so that I am considering returning it to the Apple store as an incomplete item. On the DJI forums i see people asking about this months ago and DJI themselves replying that they are working on this - but this post was from mid-late 2017. I was hoping for some positive feedback from DJI about this but they are silent on this issue. If you do not have any concern about not using the full capability of your phone, then by all means, purchase this product. But if you were anticipating actually using the capability of your phone, then maybe wait to see if DJI can get their act together and update their app.

      Pretty neat piece of tech

The quick start g I received my dji osmo mobile 2 today and I’m thoroughly impressed. In the hand it feels well built, it’s super quiet, and is balanced nicely. The quick start guide it comes with is useless. If you didn’t use the first osmo mobile, ignore this guide. Go to the dji website and download the full manual. The balance instructions are confusing at best for a new user, and have a few typos. The box comes with a cheapest (but effective) case, the guide, the gimbal and a charger (just the cord, no power brick) In terms of functionality, this thing is great. I experienced no hiccups connecting to the app (took about 4 seconds) and I was off to the races. There’s a few different gimbal modes. One will pan if you turn the handle, the other stays still no matter if you turn the handle or not. Active track worked great in my brief test, it tracked my pets in a variety of positions, and tracked me even if I turned around and such. All the buttons are in ergonomically pleasing spots. The indicator lights are annoying but only because the guide it comes with doesn’t explain what any of the colors mean and I had to get on the dji website for info. If I could change one thing, it would be to have more info on setup and use included with the gimbal itself, but that’s a minor complaint. All in all, a neat piece of equipment! Oh, and be sure to check online for adapters to hook popular action cams (you know which one I mean) to this so it can stabilize that footage as well (obviously no app support for that, but it’s pretty effective)

After buying one I now know you can turn the gimbal on and it will not power up the motors until you sign into the DJI GO app. So it looks like it’s dead if you just go for a third parts app like Flimic Pro, but once you create an account with DJI if your didnt have one, and sign into the DJI GO app it will not initialize all the way and the motors will not come on. As for the gimbal, it’s lighter then the competition Smooth 4, feels more natural to hold and not as top heavy then the smooth 4, and the tracking works 100% better then the smooth. Firmware update is done with the iOS app over Bluetooth. The zoom is smooth, but the the moving of the gimbal position with the joystick is slow. The osmo 2 has a normal USB A port for charging other devices I like the smooth 4 using a micro USB port and I can find a Micro USB to lighting cable. Charging the osmo is only 2 hours and uses a more common found micro USB and chargers at 2 amps, or 10 Watts just like the smooth 4. So the USB Smooth 4 charging has not advantage for faster charging speeds, just another cable you will have to carry. The osmo is smaller then the smooth 4. And the Osmo 2 is supported by filmic pro using the zoom button for more advanced features without the need to touch the phone and will give you 4K 24, 30, and 60 FPS, but you have to initialize the osmo first with the DJI GO app and update the firmware before using filmic pro. Now on the smooth 4 side, the Smooth has more range, seems to have stronger motors able to do faster transitions, a more refined app for iOS with 4K 24, 30, and 60 FPS. But the firmware is done over a computer. But the firmware update on the computer also allows for fine tuning calibration of then levels and the iOS app allows for the speed adjustment of how fast the motors work. If holding the gimbal upside down, or flashlight straight out then the smooth 4 wins in this range much better. The smooth 4 is not officially supported by filmic pro, but will still work you just have to tap the screen for some of the settings and adjustments. With the iPhone X and the Apple leather case the Smokth fits better without hindering the range of the motors, I had to remove the case to speed up the osmo 2 a little and for the phone to fit better. The smooth 4 seems easier and faster to adjust and control once you get used to the Phone Go mode and back triggers. In the end, they both do good stabilization, neither will let you charge the phone at the same time while using it. And both work well as a gimbal by its self. It comes down to the little features, if your a one man camera youtubenchannle then tracking is a needed thing the osmo 2 will do this better. If your looking for a mkre Manual mode without having to tap on the screen the smooth 4 is better. I think the smooth 4 works better for beingna faster and easier adjusting gimbal once you get used to the trigger controlling. So it all comes down to what your needs are. If your space is limited in your camera bag the osmo might be better and lighter also will still get the job done just with slower fine tuning using the joystick. If you want to record a one shoot video with no breaks that will need to be edited post the the smooth 4 might be better for you. Both are good gimbals for the intended purpose of a 3 axis gimbal, but both are very different in what they have to offer and how they function. I hope this helps, Scott

      Junk!!!

What a piece of junk, never have I come across anything such as this before, the instructions, which you don't get in the box you have to download. When readin What a piece of junk, never have I come across anything such as this before, the instructions, which you don't get in the box you have to download. When reading them they read like someone who doesn't speak English wrote them, they make no sense whats so ever. And anything you read online is worthless too for help that is, its just the same answers not addressing the issues that a lot of people are having. The big issue being the firmware, good luck trying to install that! The app is complete rubbish, it tells you to do things that aren't even options - probably would be if the firmware could be installed. This osmo 2 is not worth the time nor money. No tech support, no one to speak to to solve it - just as bad a BT, but at least you can call them. How this ever made it onto apple shelves is beyond me. Mines going back to Apple, if I buy from apple I expect a certain quality and things to just work out of the box, this is sooo very far from it!!!!

The fact that they would create an entirely new product and NOT include this feature is a slap in the face to every customer who DJI has promised to "take into consideration". Everyone should boycott this product until the developers create something that allows you to use your iPhone 8 (plus), iPhone X to their full capacity!
