They plug your ears, not just sit inside them like other types of earbuds, and they certainly don't sit in top of your head like two small cans of cat food. They are elegant, minimal, and wonderful. No other headphones come close to blocking outside sound, letting your music gloriously play in your ear as it was meant to be enjoyed. Screaming baby in seat 34F? No problem, pop these in, and you'll enjoy several dB of noise reduction instantly. You don't even need to put on the music. Horns, taxis, sirens, or just noisy spouse asking why you're a bum? No problem, put these on, and you won't hear a thing. Because they block outside sound, they leave your ears with nothing but the joyous music you desire. It arrives clear and booming (if you're into bass) because its airtight in your ear canal the entire inner ear is used as a bass chamber. It's a shame because people don't fit them correctly. Apple generously gives you several sizes to fit. But no consumer product can have every size needed, so they might just not work for you. But if you do get them sized correctly, you will absolutely be amazed at the sound quality. I really hope Apple releases a Lightning cable version of these soon!

      Don't recommend them

The left side would go out and I wouldn't know what to do and then magically it started to work again. I will say that they feel amazing and the sound is great (sometimes) but if you put the ear bud in your ear to far the audio will sound a little weird so you have to be gentle with putting them in. Can't just pop them in and go. Sad that this was my first time buying a bad apple product :(

Tinny sound and an overall disappointment

I really expected something better given that I find the standard headphones to be ok. Tinny, lacking bass and clarity and in fact, just lacking on every critical dimension. And for 3x the price for the standard headphones (welcome to prices in Europe!) I wanted something superior. Instead, I got something inferior.

      Shocking experience

Is it not very pleasant to get shocked in your ear! I would not recommend these for the money. If the normal Apple ear buds actually stayed in my ear I wouldn't have spent the money on these. You can get the same quality sound without the shock in your ear from Skull Candy and other ear buds.

The people giving these low reviews aren't using them correctly

Here's the trick: w While it's obvious that it's much easier to get good sound out of the stock earbuds, I think that the sound from these is ultimately better. Here's the trick: while the earbuds have their own built in resonance chamber, these use your ear canal as the resonance chamber. In order to get the high fidelity sound and full, crisp bass response, you practically have to have them inside your ear. It's why I give them 4 instead of 5 stars. They just aren't very good "walking around" earphones because it's too hard to keep them well positioned if you're moving. While sitting at a desk, with the earphones properly positioned, the sound is glorious. Also these won't make your ears hurt for days after an hour of use like the earbuds. In fact, I wear them for up to 8 hours a day while I work and don't experience any pain at all. Just make sure you keep your ears clean ;-)
