First things first...you would have to buy the Apple adapter--which can be purchased in the apple st First things first...you would have to buy the Apple adapter--which can be purchased in the apple store...it is the Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter. With this adapter you would plug your macbook into a VGA cable which is also plugged into an external monitor. You can use any external display that takes a VGA cord. I hope this helps!

When it folks and unfolds how stationary is it? Does it move on it's own from the weight of the computer or does it stay folded in or out?

Has anyone successfully used this hardware with an Apple Thunderbolt Display mounted directly on a gyp board/metal stud wall?

It's common sense to never attach something as heavy as an iMac to gyp board. Put a cross piece hori It's common sense to never attach something as heavy as an iMac to gyp board. Put a cross piece horizontally anchoring in your studs and then attach to the cross piece. Plugs are good for hanging pictures or a lite mirror, but never hang something this heavy from some plastic plugs unless you have insurance.
