It's Garbage! Just ordered my 3rd!!

I don't get it. I just ordered my 3rd cable for my MacBook Pro. I love all Mac products. I wouldn't have any computer but a Mac, and have had a Mac since the late 90's, if not earlier. I have never had a complaint about any Apple product. But this cable is ridiculous. Why can't Apple get it right?? They sell a top notch computer, and crappola for a cable. If it wasn't so expensive, I wouldn't be as PO'd as I am, but this is ridiculous!! I too would have rated it a zero if i could have. APPLE!!! Maybe consider caring about your customers and give us a good cable... not an expensive piece of garbage!!! Sadly, we are stuck with it if we want to use our laptops.

    Word Accessory QUality

Being such a iconic brand, i'm unable to understand how they can compromise with the quality of all their accessories ?

I have Macbook Pro 13 inch ratina 2014 and charger got pealed off within 2 years. Worst quality and then so much money to buy new adapter.

I would never buy apple product in future... "Pathetic"

    83 bucks for this???

I'm with all those who wish they could rate it a 0. The cord lining is soft so it easily splits. I'm now buying my third one in as many years.
I wouldn't think much of it, except that it costs over 80 dollars to replace it. I really hate to say it, but now I'm pretty sure I look forward to the day I'm free of Apple products in my office and household.

    Extremely poor quality

Don't expect this charger to last more than two to three years. The soft rubber cord is extremely flimsy, prone to yellowing and fraying. The actual magnetic plug has trouble maintaining a consistent connection to the computer.

    Unsatisfing product

I do not quite regularly write a product review, but this poor thing made me do so.
While I still love my old MacBook Pro with Retina display, the power adapter is really unreliable piece of junk.
Feel very unsatisfied that I have to buy another one as replacement.

    Unbelievably bad

My MacBook is not even a year old and the charger just stopped working! What a piece of garbage!

Why make it this flimsy in the first place?

PC laptop power cords don't even have magsafe features but they're so much sturdier than the MacBook Pro's soft rubber super-thin cord.

Why does it have soft, flimsy rubber? Why not use use at least the same hardish rubber covering that PC laptops like HPs and Lenovos have THEN still have the magsafe end as an added bonus?

Or, if the soft rubber is key to working with the magsafe feature, just develop a much, much stronger soft rubber cord.

    Poorly designed

The wire splits far too easily. If you live anything like a normal life, you will bend it and cause damage. It's unlikely to last more than a couple years, which is pretty awful given the high price.

    Designed to fail

I'm surprised there hasn't been a class action suit against Apple for these. In fact I hope there will be. My last two have died because the cable frayed. Both were about 18 months old when the rubber coating on the wires began to peel off. This is a fire hazard, and Apple should be ashamed of selling something so shoddy and potentially life-threatening.

    Disappointed

I have to join the bandwagon of unhappy customers. I have has this charger for one year and the cord has split and it no longer works. I expect more of an Apple product, especially considering the cost!

    Very Delicate

First let me say I am very careful to never crimp the wire and rarely travel with the charger. But recently I have noticed that when I connect it the light fails to come on and I have to flip it over, I am assuming that one of the wires has started to break.

Externally the plug could pass for new, too bad Apple really cheaped out when it came to actually putting quality components into the charger.

Going to research aftermarket options as I do not want to reward Apple and have to replace it with another inferior charger that will likely break after a year of light use.....

    Cord tears

I have been using my charger for around 3 years now. It coped with low-travel usage in the first year and a half, but in the last 18 months the cord has torn completely, which I can only attribute to the style in which you're recommended to travel it; coiled around the pop-out arms, causing the wire to bend at the stem. I've splinted mine, to try and reduce damage, but really this is a terrible design feature, which has resulted in my charger being un-usable.

The cost of a replacement is ridiculous. Not happy.

    Ripped Cord

I've had this charger for about 4 years and surprisingly have had no issues until now. The cord ripped and still worked for a few days if I placed it at a certain angle. When I was moving it around to try and get it to work sparks started shooting out from the open wires from them being ripped. Definitely a fire hazard. As a broke college student, I am not looking forward to spending $79 on a new charger.

Cord keeps ripping and falling out

The cord rips at the end and the charger just falls out so easily all the time and all that for $80???? This charger doesn't even beat half of the chargers on other laptops and those ones are a lot cheaper...

    Defective Adapter

Like the two adapters I had previously - all different heads and the other two were MagSafe first generation - this charge adapter never worked right out of the box new. Sometime is wouldn't start charging for a few seconds. Sometimes I'd have to reinsert it. I never knew what to do to get it to turn on the light. Then, suddenly, one day it just kind of severed at the sleeve just behind the magnetic head. It was only about a year and a half old! I've had extension cords for all my other electronics without issue for years! But, all 3 of my Apple MacBook Pro 13" cords have been duds! I went and got an adapter and tried it with someone else's old MagSafe, and it, too, wouldn't charge without jiggling the head. Sometimes even when the light said it was charging, it wasn't. Sometimes it just wouldn't work - but the cord was in pristine shape. Come on, Apple! Stop saying there is no known defect! This is ridiculous!!!! We should not have to pay $80 plus dollars to replace your defective junk!!! This should be a recall and replace! They are safety hazards! They get hot and there is obviously a short inside the magnetic head and/or weak electric lines both inside the housing and cable.

Third class charger is being given Top class Industry (Apple)

It's only 2nd year and charger's cord has gone like anything. Never expected such a cheap material from Apple for MacBook-Pro Retina.

    Terrible Cable

Like everyone else, I've had the same problem with this cable tearing up. It's probably a fire hazard by this point and I need to get a new one, just not excited about dropping the money on it at the $80 price tag. I've used exclusively Apple products since the IIe, and this is the first laptop I've ever owned that had this particular issue. Disappointed.

Disappointed in lifespan and the potential hazard it posed!

I've had my 13" Macbook pro for a few years now and the laptop itself has been amazing, but this charging cord is terrible. After about 18 months of normal use the cord developed a short in it and I could not get consistent charging from it. Come to find out the sheath on the cable had pulled out of the housing to the plug and that may have been the cause. Then just yesterday after the cord becoming even more finicky, I looked over to see why my computer wasn't charging and saw that the power cable was totally exposed because the charger got too hot and burned. This could have started a fire! I am really frustrated with Apple charging accessories and the ridiculous price that they charge for a replacement. $80 for a charging cable is far too much.

    Poor Quality!

I've noticed that my Power Adapter started splitting within 2 years after purchasing my MacBook Pro. I totally expected much more from Apple! As expensive as the MacBook Pro is, I'd expect that Apple would give an adapter that was longer lasting or at least more affordable. The way that Apple prides itself, I'd expect better products that give its customers longevity. I'd rate this product a "0" if I could.
