Does it work with a Thunderbolt Windows laptop? Can one adjust the brightness given there aren't physical buttons? (living in a Mac-PC household)

  • Yes, it should work, but you might get only 4K if your PC doesn’t support the DisplayPort 1.4 standard. I am able to get 5K from my work HP notebook only through an HP Thunderbolt Dock (4K when plugged in directly, but only with the Apple Thunderbolt Cable or the LG USB cable, not the included LG Thunderbolt cable). As for brightness, LG does not include an app, but the Microsoft Store offers a third party app called LG Ultrafine Brightness. ClickMonitorDDC also works.

  • I can drive it from an Intel NUC so should work with a laptop. I did need to upgrade the BIOS and install TB drivers. Then when first attached I had to authorize the connection. No, I don't have a way to adjust brightness through Windows.
