Apple Pay launches in the Philippines
An easier, safer, and more secure way to pay using iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac is now available
Today, Apple announced users in the Philippines can now make purchases using Apple Pay with their iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac.1 The launch brings Apple customers an easy, secure, and private way to pay at retailers of all sizes — in stores, in apps, and on the web. Apple Pay brings added security and convenience to users’ lives, whether they’re grabbing a coffee, buying groceries, or making an online purchase. Starting today, thousands of in-store and online merchants in the Philippines will accept Apple Pay, with support from some of the country’s most established banks, across major credit and debit networks.

Delivering a Secure and Private Payment Experience
Security and privacy are at the core of Apple Pay. When using a credit or debit card with Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device, nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted, and securely stored in the Secure Element, an industry-standard, certified chip designed to store the payment information safely on the device.
When paying with a credit or debit card using Apple Pay, Apple does not retain transaction information that can be tied back to the user. Their transactions stay between them, the merchant, and their bank or card issuer. If a user’s iPhone is lost or stolen, they can use the Find My app to quickly locate, lock, or suspend payments from that device.
How to Use Apple Pay
Using Apple Pay in stores is seamless and easy. Simply double-click the side button or Home button, authenticate using Face ID or Touch ID, and hold the top of the iPhone or display of the Apple Watch near the contactless reader to pay.
Users can also make purchases with Apple Pay on iPhone, iPad, and Mac for faster and more convenient payments in apps or on the web without having to create accounts or repeatedly type in contact information, card details, or shipping and billing information.
With Apple Pay, users will continue to earn the same rewards and benefits offered by their debit and credit cards. At launch, credit and debit cardholders from banks including Chinabank, GoTyme Bank, Metrobank, and UnionBank will be able to use Apple Pay.2
Customers of select banks will be able to apply for a virtual card through their bank app or website.3 The virtual card can be issued instantly and added to Apple Pay, allowing users to begin paying immediately with their Apple devices.
Merchants such as Abenson, Anko, Ayala Malls Cinemas, Ayala Malls, Beyond the Box, Coach, Digimap, Foot Locker, Globe, HOKA, Hollister, Jollibee, Lush, Power Mac Center, Rustan’s, SaladStop!, Shake Shack, Smart, The Loop, The Matcha Tokyo, The Movie Snackbar, The Underbelly, and WalterMart Supermarket — and apps and websites including foodpanda, Jollibee, Rustan’s, and Shopee — will offer users the ability to pay with Apple Pay today, with even more to come. Maya Business, a leading payment processor in the Philippines, will also begin enabling Apple Pay for over 5,000 online merchants.
Today, Apple Pay is available in more than 90 countries and regions, and works with more than 11,000 bank partners worldwide.
