Apple 60W MagSafe Power Adapter (for MacBook and 13-inch MacBook Pro)

  • Overview

The 60 Watt MagSafe Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector that ensures your power cable will disconnect if it experiences undue strain and helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector will light up; an amber light lets you know that your portable is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC lead is provided with the adapter for maximum lead length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives users an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Designed to be the perfect travelling companion, the adapter has a clever design that allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

This power adapter recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on, or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.

Compatible with MacBook and 13-inch MacBook Pro.

S Apple needs to rethink the design of the Magsafe power adaptors. I have bought replacement Magsafe Power adaptors in the past because they don't always last. Sometimes 1-2 years but this recent one only lasted 3 months. At $80 per adaptor this is ridiculous. Read online, many consumers have had the same issues.

      Dear Apple

I really, really do. You're making it difficult though. I couldn't blame you when my old, T-style power adapter broke after a couple years. I was even excited when I saw the sleek, new, redesigned L-style. However, that one broke too- but this time, it was after only about two months. I tried not to take it out on you, and figured that maybe I got the one bad one in the batch, or that maybe I had been too rough with it. But here I am, typing away, pausing occasionally to wiggle the cord in order to get it to work again- for a few seconds at least. Yes, thats right, my SECOND L-style magsafe has broken, also after only a couple months. Finally, I'm realizing that it's not me, it's YOU. And you just don't seem to realize that. I called Apple support only to be told that there are "no known issues" with the L-style magsafe adapter. Oh really? Dearest apple, do you ever read the reviews your products receive? Obviously there is a known issue, and its that this product simply doesn't work if you use it for more than a month! I've enjoyed your sleek design and better usability, but honestly, I think I'm leaving you. For a PC.

Have had it a total of maybe, 2-3 weeks and if I want to charge my laptop the cable has to be put into a very specific position. Also the metal head that connects to your macbook gets very hot and can burn you. I will be requesting a replacement and would hope that apple would stop using cheap materials and over charging because of their brand.

I noticed This product is just...bad.The whole package. Mine actually started to smoke. In the beginning there was just a little tear on the base of the cable. I noticed that it was getting way to hot at that specific point. After maybe 10 charges the tear had become a lot bigger due to the heat. And today suddenly i noticed a smell like something was burning...Yeap it was the charger,it was smoking like some 30$ chinese one. One month earlier my macbook decided not to boot, went to the tech guy no hd problems he said. The verdict? They do that some times. Not worth 1300 euros at all.

      Frays

In a year of usage it frayed at the end where it plugs into the laptop since there is no strain relief.

Worst laptop charger ever made. Extremely fragile.

They will either break at the base of the brick or at the tip where it plugs to the macbook. I've tried everything from wrapping a ballpoint pen spring around the tip, wrapped the wire around the hooks on the brick. NOTHING WORKs. Poor design. Laptop PC chargers are far more sturdier. If you're going to make something this cheap, don't charge an arm and a leg to replace it. I'm glad there are aftermarket parts to these cheap chargers. Seriously, rethink your design.
