Get Final Cut Pro Updates

Check here for Final Cut Pro 4.1 and its suite of applications: Cinema Tools, Compressor, LiveType, and Soundtrack. Final Cut Pro 4.1 is recommended for all Final Cut Pro 4 users running Mac OS X 10.2.5 “Jaguar”.

Mac OS X 10.3.2 “Panther” users should download Final Cut Pro 4.5 HD for the latest Final Cut Pro HD update.

What’s New in Final Cut Pro 4.1

This update includes many fixes and performance enhancements, including:

  • Performance optimizations for Power Mac G5 and Mac OS X 10.3
  • Frame Offset for synchronizing NTSC/PAL display with computer display during playback
  • Support for XML Interchange format
  • A new Create Support Profile option in the Help Menu for AppleCare
  • A source selector that lets Audio Mixer follow Canvas or Viewer
  • 3-perf film support in Cinema Tools

Requirements for Final Cut Pro

  • Mac OS X 10.2.5 or later
  • QuickTime 6.4 or later
  • Final Cut Pro 4
  • Valid Final Cut Pro 4 serial number

To Download Updates:

  1. Sign in with your Apple ID.
  2. Enter your Final Cut Pro 4 serial number, then click the “Download Update” button to begin downloading Final Cut Pro 4.1.
  3. After you have initiated the download, a page will appear which allows you to download Pro Application Support and the other application updates.
 

Performance Improvements

  • RT Extreme now supports real-time effects for fully uncompressed SD when used on the new dual-processor Power Mac G5 with Mac OS X Panther.
  • RT Extreme performance is greatly improved for DV and DVCPRO50 on Power Mac G4 and Power Mac G5 systems with Mac OS X Panther.
  • Render speed: Approximately 25% improvement for 8-bit and 200% improvement for 32-bit floating point rendering when used on the new dual-processor Power Mac G5 with Mac OS X Panther.
  • Audio scrubbing performance has been improved.
  • Overall application responsiveness has been improved.

Editing Enhancements

  • Using match-frame to original media file is improved when working with clips and subclips.
  • Using match-frame against split edits and speed adjusted clips now produces the expected results.
  • Issues with marking track gaps have been addressed.
  • Overall responsiveness when trimming has been improved.
  • Trim Window is more responsive.

Effects Updates

  • Range checking properly updates the video in the Canvas.
  • Play Every Frame now play out via FireWire.
  • Source timecode is maintained on clips with speed changes.
  • Text generators use the appropriate typeface for the selected font.
  • The position of filter keyframes is maintained when using the Media Manager on clips with speed changes.

Audio Improvements

  • Improved cross fade playback.
  • Print to Video and Edit to Tape maintain audio transitions.
  • 32 kHz audio capture functions properly.
  • 24p sequences now play back accurately with audio.

General Application

  • Support is included for French, German, and Japanese localizations.
  • Media Management failures when dealing with composited effects have been resolved.
  • Detection of timecode breaks for many cameras (including the Canon XL-1) has been enhanced.
  • F2 key logs clips while in text window.
  • Sorting by reel works properly.
  • iMovie 3.0.3 projects import correctly.
