Bring on the FYIs and the TMIs, the LOLs and the OMGs. Text messaging with iMessage is now on iPad and it’s unlimited between all iOS 5 users. And free over Wi-Fi.* Quick, spread the word.
*For iPad with 3G, normal carrier data rates may apply.
Exchange words. Or photos. Or videos.
iMessage lets you send and receive unlimited text messages between iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch users over Wi-Fi or 3G. Since iMessage is built into the Messages app, you can send photos, videos, locations, and contacts, too. Messages are securely encrypted. And if you have more than one iOS device, iMessage keeps the conversation going across all of them.
Group messaging.
Discuss amongst yourselves.
Text one-on-one or send one message to all. Group messaging lets you keep multiple friends in the know. Give everyone a heads-up that the meeting was canceled, tell the family you’re running late, or plan a girl’s weekend with, well, the girls. When someone replies, everyone sees it. Just add multiple recipients in the To field and let the chatter begin.
Message received.
As soon as your message appears on a friend’s iOS device, you’ll get a delivery receipt letting you know it went through. Friends can also enable read receipts for a visual “copy that.” And whether the messages are flying back and forth or you’re impatiently waiting for a response, iMessage conveniently lets you see when someone is in the middle of typing out a reply.
