Apple Ships Java-Based WebObjects 5

WWDC 2001, SAN JOSE, California—May 21, 2001—Apple® today announced the availability of WebObjects® 5, Apple’s powerful pure Java application server for web publishing and enterprise application development. WebObjects includes innovative tools to develop sophisticated and scalable web applications that can be deployed on virtually any Java-compatible server.

WebObjects 5 is available now through the online Apple Store (www.apple.com), at Apple’s retail stores and through Apple Authorized Resellers for a suggested retail price $699 (US).

WebObjects applications can be developed using the included suite of tools. Qualified development platforms are Mac® OS X, and Windows 2000 Professional. WebObjects applications are designed to be deployed on the Java 2 platform, Standard Edition 1.3 runtime environment using JDBC 2.0 for database access.
