There are two ways to get the latest versions of Apple software to every Mac in your organisation. You can download the applications you need from the Mac App Store and distribute them using the tools you’re already familiar with, such as Apple Remote Desktop or NetInstall. Or you can distribute redemption codes to your users, who can then download the software themselves from the Mac App Store.

How it works.

Downloading OS X Mountain Lion.

When you purchase a volume licence for OS X Mountain Lion, you will receive one redemption code per contract. Then follow these steps to download and install OS X Mountain Lion on every Mac that’s covered by your volume licence.

Open the Mac App Store and sign in with the Apple ID and password provided by your organisation.
In the Quick Links section, click Redeem. Enter the redemption code when prompted.
The OS X Mountain Lion installer will download to the Applications folder. It will also appear in the Dock.
Do not install Mountain Lion. Instead, locate the Install OS X Mountain Lion application in the Applications folder. This is the application used to install Mountain Lion on your licenced Mac systems.

Deploying OS X Mountain Lion.

You can deploy OS X Mountain Lion using the same mass installation techniques you use today. To install Mountain Lion on multiple systems on a network, simply copy the Install OS X Mountain Lion application to the target system, then run the installer. Mountain Lion will install in place, so there’s no need to start up from an external disk. Administrators can also use the System Image Utility included in OS X Server to create a NetInstall or NetRestore image.

Software updates for OS X Mountain Lion will be provided through the Mac App Store. You or your end users won’t have to enter an Apple ID to receive these software updates.

Downloading and deploying Apple software.

If you purchase volume licences for Apple software, you’ll receive one redemption code per licence. You can use one of two methods to install the software on your licenced number of Mac systems:

Redeem from the Mac App Store.

On each target Mac, open the Mac App Store and sign in with the Apple ID and password provided by your organisation. In the Quick Links section, click Redeem. Enter the redemption code when prompted. The application will download and install in the Applications folder. Software updates for these Mac systems will be provided automatically through the Mac App Store.

Use Apple Remote Desktop, NetInstall or NetRestore.

On your administrator Mac system, enter one of the redemption codes provided. You can then copy the application to all the target systems using Apple Remote Desktop. Or you can use the System Image Utility included in OS X Server to create a NetInstall or NetRestore image.

Software Updates for OS X Mountain Lion will be provided through the Mac App Store.

Purchasing volume licences for Apple apps.

You can purchase volume licences for Apple software directly from Apple by calling 1300 855 656, speaking with an Apple sales representative or visiting the Apple Online Store. Then download the software from the Mac App Store. Volume licences are available for the following Apple apps:
