Lectopia
University of Western Australia
In 1999, software developers at the University of Western Australia (UWA) Multimedia Centre commenced work on creating an innovative system that would provide students with access to lecture recordings over the Internet. Named iLecture, the Apple-centric system received such high levels of positive feedback from students that resources were allocated to support the development of a full-scale production system.

Renamed Lectopia in mid-2006, the system has since become a fully-fledged commercial product and is currently licensed to over 30 per cent of Australian universities. Further afield, Lectopia is gaining significant interest from overseas universities, with Duke University leading the system’s international uptake following an implementation that took place in 2005.
