Final Cut Studio

DVD Studio Pro 4. Professional Authoring Tools.

Whether you want to create a wedding DVD or a sophisticated commercial title, DVD Studio Pro 4 makes it easy. Quickly arrange tracks in a timeline, and add advanced, interactive features to your project with point-and-click ease.

Advanced track editing

The timeline-based Track Editor includes tracks for video, audio, and subtitles, with support for the maximum DVD specification — up to nine video angles, eight audio streams, and 32 subtitle streams for each track.

Track Editor

Use the Track Editor to trim start and end times, merge multiple video or audio assets in a single track, and easily add, move, and rename chapter markers — including markers originally set in Final Cut Pro. You can also add subtitles, as well as closed captions (Line 21) for the hearing impaired.

Give viewers even more flexibility by adding buttons over video. The buttons allow them to make navigation selections during video playback, without having to switch to a menu.

Extensive audio support

Dolby Digital Pro Encoder Logo

DVD Studio Pro 4 supports PCM audio at 48kHz and 96kHz. Or you can work with cinematic surround sound using Dolby Digital 2.0 or 5.1 or DTS 6.1 formats.* Preview any audio source, including surround sound, right in DVD Studio Pro.

You can use Soundtrack Pro STAP files natively and make changes at any time by opening the application from the DVD Studio Pro interface. When you save the STAP file in Soundtrack Pro, the audio is instantly updated in your DVD Studio Pro project.

Multiple playlists

Use the Story feature to create multiple versions, or playlists, of your content without duplicating media assets. For example, you can create a DVD of a full-length movie and include a playlist that shows scenes only of a certain type.

You can define up to 98 versions of your DVD project using the same source tracks and content. Create playlists that include, exclude, or reorder specific chapters or content.

Interactive DVD authoring

Use point-and-click scripting menus to create interactive games and quizzes, options for random playback, and conditional playback settings based on variables such as the type of DVD player. GPRM partitioning flexibly allocates up to seven of the eight memory registers, allowing you to use up to 112 partitions for your scripts.

Interactive DVD authoring

VTS (Video Title Set) allocation in DVD Studio Pro 4 removes space restrictions that could limit the creativity of your project. The VTS Editor lets you create up to 99 VTS blocks and allocate assets across multiple blocks to optimize playback of your DVD.

Other advanced authoring features

DVD Studio Pro allows you to selectively disable player operations during “must see” sections like the FBI warning. You can also control whether specific menus, tracks, or stories will appear based on player setup. Remote control settings let you program specific keys to call up certain locations on the disc.

You can also create DVDs that combine video content and data for use on a computer. Create discs that include electronic documents — such as marketing materials or lesson plans — and even software tools. Assign links to menus, tracks, and markers to open an application, such as a web browser, when the disc is played on a computer.
