CarPlay features Siri voice control and is specially designed for driving scenarios. It also works with your car’s controls — knobs, buttons, or touchscreen. And the apps you want to use in the car have been reimagined, so you can use them while your eyes and hands stay where they belong.
-
Voice
To activate Siri voice control, just press and hold the voice control button on the steering wheel.
-
Touch
If your CarPlay-equipped vehicle has a touchscreen, you can use it to control CarPlay.
-
Knobs and Controls
CarPlay also works with the knobs, dials, or buttons in the car. If it controls your screen, it controls CarPlay.
The power and simplicity of Apple Maps come to your dashboard — complete with turn‑by‑turn directions, traffic conditions, and estimated travel time. CarPlay can also predict where you most likely want to go using addresses from your email, text messages, contacts, and calendars.
Make calls, return missed calls, and listen to voicemail. Siri can help you do all these things. All you have to do is ask.
Access your artists, songs, playlists, and iTunes Radio using your car’s built-in controls. Or just tell Siri what you’d like to listen to. CarPlay will also support additional audio apps that you’ve downloaded to your iPhone for enjoying podcasts, music, and radio.
CarPlay supports other apps on your iPhone. Here are a few of them. Stay tuned for even more supported apps coming soon.
