I'd like to know if my charger uses electricity when plugging into the wall socket but not plugged into my iPhone, ipad or iPod? Thanks

Yes. There is always a minimal "trickle" draw on power for any electrical device that is left plugged in. It is a fairly minimal amount, but can add up over time. Save energy and money, always unplug you power cords when not in use.
