Who Is Responsible for Handling Your Personal Data?

“Apple” means the entity responsible for handling your personal data, as indicated on signage that is visible in the relevant Apple Store.

Apple’s Use of Security Cameras and Retention of Footage

Security cameras are used for the purposes of video monitoring; for Apple’s legitimate interests of the safety of customers, visitors, employees, and other individuals; for security; for fraud and loss prevention; and for statistical purposes in the context of store operations. The footage is recorded and may be viewed in the event of an incident only by relevant staff in order to investigate the incident and on a need-to-know basis, in relation to requests from relevant authorities (for example, local police), or otherwise as required by law if and where applicable.

Apple retains personal data only for so long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, as described in this Policy, or as required by law, and in accordance with any applicable authorizations. Unless further retention is necessary for investigating incidents, video surveillance footage is deleted after the applicable period indicated in the table below. These retention periods vary depending on the relevant location, due to local regulations or authorizations.

Your Privacy Rights at Apple

At Apple, we ensure your ability to know when your personal data is processed, to access or delete data related to you, and to object to or restrict the processing of your personal data. To exercise your rights, you can make requests at apple.com/uk/privacy/contact.

There may be situations where we cannot grant your request — for example, if you ask us to delete your personal data and the footage is still necessary and there are overriding legitimate grounds of safety or security. Other reasons your privacy request may be denied are if it jeopardizes the privacy of others, is frivolous or vexatious, or would be extremely impractical.
