  • Overview

The 45W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector so if someone should trip over it, the cord disconnects harmlessly and your MacBook Air stays put safely. It also helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector lights up; an amber light lets you know that your notebook is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC lead is provided with the adapter for maximum lead length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives you an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Designed to be the perfect travelling companion, the adapter has a clever design that allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

This power adapter recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.

Compatible only with MacBook Air featuring MagSafe 2 power port.

      Poor Product

I've had Macs for over 30 years. By far, the most badly designed accessory for any Macbook or Mac Air or Mac Pro is the AC adapter. No matter how careful you ar I've had Macs for over 30 years. By far, the most badly designed accessory for any Macbook or Mac Air or Mac Pro is the AC adapter. No matter how careful you are, the adapter breaks and shorts out long before it should; it's the Achilles heel of Apple products. At this writing, my early 2014 Macbook Air is like new, but the AC adapter just shorted out. Please, Apple, there's no reason for this.

      Charger broke within 4 months

After transporting my charger in my backpack, I was surprised to have found the cord to be frayed. Looks like a lot of people are having quality issues as well.

      Waste of money

Beyond disappointed. I can't bring myself to buy another replacement (which I seem to be doing every year).

      Bad Apple

My macbook air sits on my coffee table and the power cord is engaged 90% of the time and is never twisted up or abused. Inevitably the chord will begin to fray My macbook air sits on my coffee table and the power cord is engaged 90% of the time and is never twisted up or abused. Inevitably the chord will begin to fray within 8-12 months. I've replace my AIr about 3-5 years so I'm are looking at around +3 power chords over that lifetime or around +$240. That's just BS and Apple can and should do better. At least provide a lifetime warranty for the power cords if you are going to refuse to build a better power supply.

TRASH - I Suspect Planned Obsolescence

3rd Charger in less than 3 Years. Completely trash. I exert the utmost care in making sure to not be careless with my charger, still ends up frayed for absolu 3rd Charger in less than 3 Years. Completely trash. I exert the utmost care in making sure to not be careless with my charger, still ends up frayed for absolutely no reason. I had the same problem with the iPhone chargers before I switched to Samsung Galaxy Note 9. I feel you all use planned obsolescence to keep recapturing $$$ from existing costumers of your products. I love my Mac but hate the charging cord. Apple, step it up & do better.
