Help me to use my Time Machine back up, that was running Catalina iOS, (located on my LaCie external drive) to populate and run on my new Mac Mini M1. Is it possible? I don't think I can upgrade my current iMac to Big Sur because it is using intel chip. So somehow I have to get my Catalina backup to install and run on my new Mi chip mac mini ....

Hello, My iMac 27" (2017 3,4Ghz Intel Core i5) is facing trouble on startup and running some applications. It has a HDD Fusion Drive and I got a budget to change to an SSD of about 450€, what is a lot. For this price I was thinking to buy an used M1 Mac Mini and connect it to the iMac 27". However I see that it could be not possible since thunderbolt port is no longer valid for video. Can I or not connect a Mac Mini to my specific iMac 27" ? Other solution is to buy an external SSD to connect...
My Mac Mini M1, 2020, 8GB RAM, 1TB internal SSD , is running macOS Monterey 12.3.1. The software update utility is not offering me to update to macOS Monterey 12.4. Instead it's reporting that my Mac Mini is running at latest level - macOS Monterey 12.3.1. I'm wondering if 12.4 is really not available for my Mac Mini M1?...

I have a late 2014 Mac Mini running Catalina that always boots from the internal hard drive, even though the startup disk system preference correctly shows that the external usb drive is selected to boot from. I have to hold down the Option key at boot to bring up the startup manager which shows the external drive with an arrow below it which I think indicates that is the default boot drive and click on the arrow. The Mini then correctly boots from the external usb drive with no problems...
