I have never had an apple product with this terrible of quality. For $50 should definitely last longer especially not used much and always put up when not in use. Would not recommend wasting your money.

Poor Video Quality and No Audio Out of Headphone Jack

The result is the vid Instead of outputting native HDMI, this little device seems to take the output from the phone, compress it, and pass along an HDMI signal. The result is the video quality is far below good HD quality. Expect all kinds of artifacts and other issues including lower than expected HD resolution. This is not a device that can replace a good streaming alternative, which is too bad considering Apple's devices are more than powerful enough for that purpose. For those of us hoping to use our phones or iPads to connect in business settings to display content, be aware that audio is only transmitted through the lightening port when this is plugged in, which gives no audio out through the headphone jack. That means that if you are plugging this into a projector's HDMI input, you are likely going to lose any sound that goes along with your presentation (or anything else) as most quality projectors do not have speakers. This is a big oversight in my opinion as lots of devices keep the analog audio out of a headphone jack or the like live while also transmitting sound over HDMI. Similarly, sound is not also sent via bluetooth when this is plugged in, so that's not an alternative either. I have both the bluetooth and headphone jack options open on my laptop, which has an HDMI out. So much for replacing a good old laptop.

      REMOVE FROM SALE NOW

With the amount of negative reviews, I really hope that Apple takes the time to remove products that are no longer functional. This is particularly bad in iOS 1 With the amount of negative reviews, I really hope that Apple takes the time to remove products that are no longer functional. This is particularly bad in iOS 11 release. This is a dead on arrival product. If I could give this zero stars I would.

Typically it works flawlessly aside from it losing signal from time to time when the cable is moved. I started the IOS update from 10 to 11 and was sharing my screen to the stereo just fine prior to the reboot of my phone to install IOS 11. Once the iPhone completed its update the stereo no longer recognizes the that the phone is connected via HDMI, it just says "No Device" when I select the HDMI input. I connected my daughters iPhone 6 which still is on IOS 10 and it works fine, but when I connect my iPhone 6+ or my wife's iPhone 6+ which have been updated to IOS 11 the stereo says "No Device". At this point I am very frustrated that "upgrading" my IOS seems to have made the $50 Apple HDMI adaptor useless. This is a serious defect in IOS 11 in my opinion as it makes the Apple branded HDMI adaptor unusable.
