  • Overview

Redesigned and rechargeable, Magic Trackpad 2 includes a built-in battery and brings Force Touch to the desktop for the first time. Four force sensors underneath the trackpad surface allow you to click anywhere, and detect subtle differences in the amount of pressure you apply, bringing increased functionality to your fingertips and enabling a deeper connection to your content. Magic Trackpad 2 also features an edge-to-edge glass surface area that is nearly 30 per cent larger than the previous trackpad. This design, along with a lower profile, makes scrolling and swiping through your favorite content more productive and comfortable than ever.

Magic Trackpad 2 pairs automatically with your Mac, so you can get to work right away. And the battery will power your Magic Trackpad 2 for about a month or more before needing a recharge.

Unfortunately, I do quite a bit -- and each time I press to 'click and drag'; the file opens, or previews, or gives me a definition, etc. Click too light, nothing happens. Click too hard, it does everything but pick up what I'm selecting to drag. I have to keep my magic mouse next to my new trackpad just for clicking and dragging. Great concept -- not executed to the "it just works" Apple standard.

      A really super trackpad!

Needless to say, I didn't return this one. This is a beautiful trackpad. It feels like an upgrade to my MacBook Pro trackpad. And it worked perfectly directly out of the box. As far as claims of glitchy connections with the laptop, I've dealt with a lot of glitchy wireless mice in the past even to the point that I finally went back to completely hard wired. This one, however, is not glitchy! It is rock solid. From the moment I turned it on, it connected with my MacBook Pro and was super responsive and precise. The only time I had an issue with it dropping connection to the laptop was as it neared the end of the battery charge. It would connect and disconnect over and over again. I plugged it in and charged it, but it kept doing the same thing. So I switched it off and back on and it was as good as new, solid, precise, perfect. A lot of reviewers complained about the click and drag. Let me clarify. This is a "force touch" trackpad. It gives you one functionality with a light touch and a different one with a heavy touch. It can take some getting used to. Click and drag requires a light touch. If you tend to click heavy when you drag, place the finger of one hand lightly on the pad for "click" and use the finger of your other hand for "drag." My guess is that it won't be long until you are clicking and dragging like a pro one-handed. So don't believe all the negative reviews. This is a really super trackpad, and I think you'll love it.

      Incredibly frustrating to use

Random clicks happen all the time and half the time instead of a regular click or worse a double click it registers a right click. Scrolling with 2 fingers sometimes causes it to think I am using 3 fingers which it then takes several seconds to recover from. And as for force clicking, previewing is almost never what I want to do. After about 5 minutes of it popping up unexpectedly I disabled it (I find force touch a little frustrating on my iPhone 6s+ too but I got used to it). I hate to sound so negative but the whole reason I use Apple products is for the ease of use factor and this trackpad significantly interferes with my ability to get things done.

      DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!!!

Absalutely hate this item!!! as a music producer using logic, the trackpad has literally made me hate musical production it glitches and clicks weird and if you Absalutely hate this item!!! as a music producer using logic, the trackpad has literally made me hate musical production it glitches and clicks weird and if you want to do the amazing act of copying and dragging something get ready to die of frustration. I got it because I thought it would be like my MacBook track pad but its nothing like it. I just bought a blue tooth mouse that I've been using because I was about to smash the thing out of frustration. DO NOT BUY THIS. ABSOLUTELY HATE IT!!!!!

      Magic Trackpad

I mostly use a Logitech MX Master when doing more precision depended work in Avid or Resolve, but I love the Magic Trackpad for general productivity work. Gestu I mostly use a Logitech MX Master when doing more precision depended work in Avid or Resolve, but I love the Magic Trackpad for general productivity work. Gestures and Force Touch are neat features that streamline my workflow. However, charging an additional $40 just for the Space Grey finish is ridiculous.

      Awesome Device!

I h I ordered this with my new iMac mainly because I am not a fan of the Magic Mouse so I decided I would rather spend a few extra dollars and get the trackpad. I have a Logitech mouse which is what I had intended to use and have the trackpad to use for certain tasks. Wow, I got the computer and set up both the mouse and the trackpad and after just a few days I put the mouse away. I loved the trackpad on my old MacBook Pro but I think this one is even better. For starters I do not have any of the odd behaviors that some have described. It works exactly as it should. Unlike my MacBook Pro I can move this one to wherever it is most comfortable. The charge lasts forever and I love the fact that it is solid state with only one moving part, the switch (For the person that complained that the switch is too delicate...What? It's an On/Off switch not something you use in your normal activities.). All of the multi-touch gestures work exactly as they should, including Click and Drag. I couldn't be more pleased. I highly recommend this product!
